Class 11 Geologists!

Class 11 have been working on creating posters to show off their knowledge of the earth and its layers. Moe specifically, they have researched the different types of soils that make up the Earth. We looked into bedrock, parent material, subsoil, topsoil and the final organic layer. The layers were researched through the use of iPads which ensured we could get the really strong knowledge!

Class 11 Academic Crew!

Today, Class 11 worked in their Crews to create pledges based on their previous assessments from Spring. We critiqued our assessments with a notice, praise and wonder, which enabled us to create 3 pledges in what we will do to ensure we improve our outcomes. This included coaching others and practising on TT Rockstars more, amongst other ideas. We will reflect on these to ensure that we are achieving these goals!

Sport photos! ⚽️🏉

Mr Ambler and myself are creating a PE display for school. In this display, we want to celebrate our sporting successes across school whether it is a tournament, PE clubs or outside teams.

Please pass them onto your teacher and we will add these as part of our celebration 😀

Thanks,

Mr Gerrard and Mr Ambler 😆

Class 11 Earth Hook! 🌎🌍🌏

Today, Class 11 were right back into action and have began their hook week for the new Expedition. The new Expedition is called Earth Shattering Events: What happens when nature strikes?

The children were focusing on the different layers that made up the Earth, so it only felt right that we created a fun, collage that showcased the crust, mantle, outer core and inner core, so that we could see the different layers of work.

Keep an eye on the blog, as we continue to be hooked into our new Expedition this week!

Class 11 does Dragons Den! 🐲💰

Class 11 pitched various ideas for school improvement and making our school a better place. We discussed how we could make it better, such as recycling, school equipment for breaktime and litter picking.

However, some in Class 11 chose different ideas. These ranged from blinds at the top of the classroom, more play equipment and varying apps for school improvement. There was some fantastic ideas and even better questioning about each others school improvement ideas.

Have a happy Easter, Class 11 and thank you for my first term with you! 🙂

Class 11 Autism Awareness! 🧩

Yesterday, Class 11 learned about autism and what it is. We saw that autism is just another way of looking at the world, but can sometimes be overwhelming for some people. The children thought it would be a great idea to raise awareness and think about how we can help those that might have autism feel more included, understand their emotions and when to give someone with autism space to reset.

The children were enthusiastic and here they are in action creating their posters!

Year 3 Cruise Talk! 🛳

Yesterday, Year 3 were lucky to have Reef’s dad in to discuss what a career is like on the seas in the cruise ship industry. It is fair to say the children were excited by what they heard and what they saw, with lots asking and answering a variety of questions.

The children found it interesting that there was a hospital on board, lots of hot tubs and, more importantly, lots of Playstation’s and Xbox games consoles.

The children loved seeing the variety of wildlife that could be seen, especially the sleepy seals and the penguins. I think Cameron definitely inspired lots of people and he definitely has us dreaming of paradise in the Caribbean, as we break up for Easter!

Thank you for the talk! 😆

More visitors for Year 3!

As part of Aspirations Week, Year 3 have had some more visitors helping us to think about what we would like to be when we are older. We had Victoria from a local dance school, showing off the dances from her groups and the amazing trophies they have won. Then we had Geoff who was instantly recognised as the ’drone man’, visiting from XP. He explained how he loves to work with the schools within the Trust and share the stories from our beautiful work!

Thanks for coming in and answering our questions! 😆
