Class 8: Religious education

The children enjoyed this week’s Hindu story of the 6 blind men and the elephant. The message of the story was that the truth can be seen in different ways because all of the blind men thought that the elephant looked differently. They had a go at the quiz and even took turns to wear a blindfold and guess what the object was that they were holding. Another fantastic discussion was had about truth and integrity. Well done class 8!

Class 6 RE

Today in our RE lesson we looked at places of worship and compared them with our school. We found out that there are lots of similarities in the two and thought about some of the activities we do in school.

Great job superstars!

Year 3 – RE: The Story of Moses

Last week, Year 3 continued their RE learning around the Jewish religion and its stories about God’s promises. We learned about the story of Moses, from his escape as a baby in a Moses basket on the River Nile to his victory in leading his people out of slavery and through the Red Sea itself. To consolidate their learning, children reenacted scenes from the story and created story maps to retell the tale. Why not ask your child to retell you the story and see how much they can recall? Can they remember the ten plagues that God sent to Egypt to help Moses in persuading the pharaoh to release his slaves?

Crew Knowles – RE

This week in RE, we looked at building background information on the different forms of the Hindu god. We learned about Ganesha, Lakshmi and Vishnu to name just a few. We also managed to get in some active learning by moving around the classroom to collect the information!

Year 3 – RE: How do Jews use stories to remember God’s covenant?

In RE, Year 3 are learning all about the stories of the Jewish faith and we are thinking particularly about how they help Jews to remember God’s promises to them.

So far, we have looked at the story of Noah’s ark, and – just last week – we found out about the story of Abraham and his wife Sarah who moved away from all of their friends and family to a new place because they trusted so much in God’s instruction to them.

I wonder which Jewish story we’ll be enjoying this week?

Class 7 RE!

Today, Class 7 have been looking at stories with meanings. We looked into the Hindu story of Ganesha goes to a party! We liked how it taught us that kindness is better than boasting and we even acted out the story!
