Crew Knowles: English planning

Crew Knowles worked hard to plan their setting descriptions of Bear Island this week. They thought carefully about what the character might be able to see, hear, smell, taste and touch on the island and how these could be described. They’ve worked really hard on figurative language including alliteration, similes and personification so I can’t wait to read their final touchdowns!

Crew Knowles: Character Traits

In our crew session this morning, we focused on looking at our Green Top character traits. We cut out all of our character trait statements and tried to match them back up to the correct headings: respect, courage, integrity, compassion, and quality and craftsmanship.

The discussions about each one and which character trait it could link to was amazing and I was blown away! Well done Crew Knowles!

Crew Knowles: National Storytelling Week

We’ve had a lovely start to National Storytelling Week today in Crew Knowles! We’ve read Chapter 4 and started Chapter 5 of our class text ‘The Last Bear’ and can’t wait to see what happens next! We also enjoyed the Y3 Learning Council coming to support our Accelerated Reader session and everyone was keen to show off their reading to them!

Crew Knowles: Magnet Fun!

Crew Knowles enjoyed investigating magnets and exploring how they attract and repel depending on the poles that are facing.

After we investigated the magnets, we used them to create some art work inspired by the Northern Lights! It’s safe to say we had lots of fun!

Crew Knowles: Hook Day 1

We’ve had lots of crafty fun today to immerse our classrooms ready for our new expedition all about climate change and polar bears!

First we created cotton wool polar bears, second we decorated our windows with sparkly stars and third we created polar bears using a page from our new class text! We also created hand print polar bears which look great on display!
