Community Crew in Year 1

I would like to shout out to the staff and children in Y1 who have welcomed me to their community crew this morning.  Their focus was ‘be kind’ and I can see how kind they all are!  I am blown away by the great work that happens in Y1 crew.
Thank you for having me!

Christmas robins

we have read the book ‘coming home’ about a Scandinavian robin that is on a migration journey. Then we had a go at sketching a robin and colouring it in. I think they look fantastic.

well done class 5 I’ve had a lovely afternoon with you all.

thank you

The grinch is in class 5

I know we aren’t doing Christmas officially until tomorrow but I had to share these that class 5 did with mrs Miller! I think they are amazing and I can’t wait to get all festive and start decorating the classroom together.

Retelling our class text Going Places

This morning in class 5 we have ordered the pages from our class text Going Places. We worked in collaborative groups to order the story so far and discussed what happens first, next and last.

After that we walked around the other groups work and checked their work to make sure our friend had the correct order too.

Great work class 5! Keep working on those listening skills.

Learning our left and right

In maths this week we are focusing on position and direction. We have been getting ourselves warmed up by dancing to the cha cha slide to help us remember our left and right. We’ve had lots of fun mastering the dance moves and following the instructions. We are much more confident with our left and right now!

Well done class 5, keep up the super work.

English in class 5

Class 5 have had a great discussion about a character from our class text Going Places. We discussed with a partner what we thought she might be feeling, thinking or saying. When we all came back to the carpet we could share our ideas with the rest of the class and give reasons why.

Great work class 5. Keep up the good work I am really proud of you.

Tag rugby

we’ve had a fantastic session doing tag rugby this afternoon. We practiced lots of different skills and had so much fun. We’ve worked in teams and used our special awareness and hand eye coordination. The children were amazing at encouraging each other and congratulating one another when they did well and it was so lovely to see. I hope we get to do more in the future.

Year 1 Children in Need 2020

Well done to all the boys and girls in Year1 who celebrated Children in Need day 2020 with a fantastic display of dots and Pudsey bear ears 🙂

The children showed great empathy and understanding when discussing some of the ways that children around the world might need help and they shared fabulous ideas to help one another too!

Till next year, Pudsey…
