Today in English class 5 have been writing instructions about how to wash your hands thoroughly. We did an experiment with glitter to see how easy it is for germs to travel all around our classroom.
Then we all washed our hands and watched the germs being washed down the sink.
we worked in pairs to write instructions for hand washing and we drew pictures to match.
well done for doing such a great job class 5!

We had the perfect weather for a trip to the allotment this afternoon. I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Mrs Merchant for having us to visit and to Mrs Robson for bringing her forest school expertise.
The children got to experience lots of different activities that happen on the allotment- adding to the compost bin, weeding, planting tomatoes, watering plants, seeing ducks and turkeys on near by allotments and even tried some freshly grown fruit and vegetables. They all LOVED the strawberries 🍓 but were not so keen on the rhubarb!
It has been wonderful and you did us proud Y1🤩
Mrs Burton and Miss O’Neill 😃
To hook us into to our new class text after half term we have made our own jam sandwiches! We had to work in pairs and read the instructions and follow them carefully so we could enjoy a delicious jam sandwich.
Everyone worked so well together and we even did some fantastic tidying up. Well done for being so grown up class 5!

we’ve had a fantastic tag rugby session this morning. We played some great games with a tag belt, cones and foam rugby balls. The children have loved it and have had lots of fun.
thank you
Miss Hilton and Miss O’Neill

a huge well done to Heidi for completing the reading challenge for making a story stone with your favourite book character on. You have got 50 HoWL points for working hard!
well done!
Class 5 have been fantastic at applying our box model method for finding fractions of amounts today. We were finding half and quarter of an amount working in pairs. I was so impressed at how we were working collaboratively and using the examples around the room to be successful on our learning.
well done everyone, keep up the hard work for tomorrow too!
Thank you
Miss Hilton

In our phonics/reading group this afternoon we had such fun playing noughts and crosses but instead of using symbols we each had to choose one of our common exception words that we find tricky to remember! The kids loved it and can’t wait to play it again next week!
