Year 2 had a wonderful PE session this week, in preparation for our family learning next week. We danced it out! This term we will be looking at keeping healthy and how exercise and diet can affect our bodies, so we started with a quick game of zoo keepers before doing some exercise in the form of dancing. It was so much fun!
The week beginning 30th January will be ‘Maths Week’ and we will have lots of fun things happening in school to raise the profile of maths.
Below are some dates that you may want to know in advance:
Thursday 2nd February 2pm – 4pm : Maths drop in session
Join us in the hall to play some fun maths games with your child/ren between the times of 2pm and 4pm. Feel free to drop in at anytime between these times. This will be led by the Learning Council so please come along to support.
Friday 3rd February: NSPCC Number dress up day!
On Friday 3rd, we are encouraging the children to dress up in maths and number related outfits to raise money for the NSPCC charity. Suggested donation is £1.
This week throughout the Christmas madness Maddison has been using her spare time to re write the inspiring story of Emmeline Pankhurst. She has taken her time to practise her beautiful handwriting, here is a picture of her while she was completing her hard work. She was so proud of herself, and so am I! She has even inspired some other of her crew to do the same thing and they are working hard too to re write some other amazing stories. What an amazing crew we have! 😀
Some more wonderful achievements to celebrate last week in our community meeting. It was wonderful to see so many children with shoutouts for their kindness, some awesome reading certificates, Crew Shaw with the best attendance and our FANTASTIC out of this world achievers. We can’t wait for after the Christmas holidays to continue celebrating our amazing KS1 children!
Thank you so much to all of the parents and carers that made it to our celebration assembly yesterday. The children were so pleased with the amount of parents that showed up to listen to them explain about their learning from this term. We hope you really enjoyed it too!
Thanks again, from all of the Key stage 1 staff x x
Key stage 1 would like to invite parents and carers to come and celebrate their learning from the current expedition, on Thursday 1st December at 2pm in our school hall. We would love to see you all there!
In community crew this week we have been looking at road safety and even got to go on a walk around the school to see how we can work hard to stay safe! We found out how to cross the road safely, what double yellow lines are for and how to spot a safe or unsafe vehicle. The sun was shining and the children were making sure to be sensible and safe!!!!
WOW what a wonderful first day back in Year 2! We have had such a wonderful day, the children have all come back with amazing attitudes and have blown me away with their manners and kind hearts. I hope to see this ALL year.
Extra big shoutout to Amaya, Jenson and Maddison for their attitude to learning today, I’m so proud of how well they have come in and settled straight away. I can’t wait to continue our journey this year. Keep it up, class 8!
