Crew Pearson – Judaism

In crew today we were focusing on British values and looking at another religion Judaism.

The children read different stories and were able to discuss and share what they had read in their groups. They also were able to make some connections and similarities to other regions that they have learnt too. Well done guys!

Class 12 – developing Vocabulary

In reading this week they were developing their own individual vocabulary knowledge. Focussing on a chapter from our class text and pulling out words unfamiliar to them. Then, using a dictionary, finding and defining the words they chose.

To show their understanding had improved, they then had to use these words in their own independent sentences.

Great work! It was lovely to see how you dictionary skills and speed has also improved this year too!

Sound Scientists Class 12

Today, I was so unbelievably proud of all the children in class 12 during our expedition today. The discussions and learning connections they made were beautiful to see and hear.

They were testing how sound is made, during the experiment we also found out that sound travels through solids better than air (gas) and that this is due to the amount of particles. They learnt that sounds are made by vibrations and that these vibrations travel in waves through particles into our ear. Then, our brain helps register the sound being heard.

So proud of every single one of you! And thank you for all your efforts and tests you carried out in this lesson your creativity and curiosity was so lovely to see.

Fossil scientists in class 12

My wonderful class have pieced together the process of fossil creation. Once they were able to decide on the correct order they then made their own storyboards to share their knowledge.

Fantastic job and some beautiful story boards! Well done.

Class 12: Amazing fun at the park

We were so lucky to spend some time at the park today enjoying the new playground and a train ride. The children, as always were wonderful and a credit to the school, it was so lovely to see them enjoy and play safely in their local community. They definitely had a great time.

Class 12: Super Science (no. 2)

After learning that light can’t bend around objects, we discussed that this creates shadows. The children in their second experiment were testing how the distance of a light source from the object effected the size of it’s shadow. Here they are all set up again to test out their theories in groups. I was very impressed with their efforts here they did a great job!

Class 12: out of school achievements

Hunter has blown me away with his fantastic home learning. Taking inspiration from our two page spread he spent the weekend doing his own and teaching himself about other organs in the body too! Great work and effort all round.

Kalab wanted to share his achievements in his marshal arts today, he has earned himself a certificate and his yellow belt! He was so confident talking to the children about his achievements, you can tell he’s proud of himself! Well done.

Year 4 swimming reminders.

Hello! For the next two weeks the children will be doing water safety swimming lessons. For these sessions they will require their normal swimming costumes and a pair of shorts and t-shirts to go over the top. These will be worn in the water so we would also advise a carrier bag as they will hold a lot of water when in their bags for the day and may cause other items to get rather wet.

Can we also kindly remind that sprays and aftershaves/perfumes are not to be used in the changing rooms or brought into school due to allergies and to support children with asthma.

Many thanks, the year 4 team.
