Class 9 took 10 to read

This afternoon we took 10 minutes during accelerated reader to read for pleasure. Some of us found a book we were really enjoying in accelerated reader which was great, but others chose books from the book shelves that they wanted to read and for the whole 10 minutes the class were so engaged in reading. I even got to finish a book I had been reading too! It is so beautiful to hear the children reading and getting so stuck in to their books.

Thank you, class 9!

NSPCC ‘The Kindness Challenge’

Next week, we will be taking part in a week full of activities linking to Kindness. This is part of the NSPCC fundraising and awareness week.

We will be taking part in lots of fun activities during Crew each day and there will be lots of opportunities for children to complete Kindness Challenges at home too.

Next Friday, to raise money for the NSPCC, we will be holding a Non-Uniform Day for donations of £1.

Class 9: Reading is magic webinar!

Today we joined an online session with the author of a beautiful book called ‘A day for sandcastles’. What made this book special was that it was a wordless picture book, meaning it was a story told in just pictures. The story was read to us by the author and he told us all about the thought process behind it and how wordless books are made! We have challenged our class to see if they can create their own wordless story at home to bring in to share!

Teacher reading swap in class 9!

We had a lovely visit from Miss Knowles this week as part of our teacher swap to celebrate reading week! The children loved the visit and the story that was shared with us! You showed great listening and lovely respect towards Miss Knowles, thank you!

Class 9 and the silent Roman discussion

Class 9 used some pictures of the Roman Empire to practise using question marks. We looked at the pictures and got our thinking caps on, what did we want to know about these images? We used the silent discussion protocol to ask questions to find out more about what we could see and what went on in Roman times!
