We have been practising some sketching techniques today including cross hatching, feathering and stippling. We had a lovely lesson and I’m really looking forward to some of these techniques being applied to the final sketches.
Today we were able to start Case Study 3, which focuses on art. We have been looking closely at sketching and how we can create different textures to add shading to our drawings. We looked at several different techniques including stippling, hatching and cross-hatching. Ask your children if they can demonstrate and explain what each different technique is!
Over the past week, we have been completing our touchdown writing. We carried out some research about two people whose lives were both affected in different ways by the Second World War. We then produced a biography that will form part of our product; a book that answers this expedition’s guiding question, ‘How does war change lives?’
This morning Crew Jackson worked incredibly hard on identifying the features of a script through role on the wall and the use of a model text. I was very impressed with their collaborative skills and ability to explain the purpose of different features. We then went on to work in the groups for our Space lectures. Each group worked on recalling their knowledge and the key ideas they would need to include their lectures. I can’t wait to continue tomorrow, when we will begin to order our ideas and start to collaborate on a script. Well done everyone – you all make me feel very proud!

I want to give a huge shoutout to Crew Rodgers for their fantastic stewardship in our classroom this afternoon. We have had a very busy day and made quite a bit of mess which needed to be cleaned up. During our crew time after we had circled up to give ourselves our HoWLs score the children insisted on using their crew story time to make sure all the equipment was put away and the classroom was left with no trace of our activities. They listened to a story while they quietly worked and the room was soon spick and span again. I was so proud of them I couldn’t resist giving postcards to everyone for their efforts.
Thank you so much Crew. You really are the best!

Just wanted to shout out my entire class for their efforts in the first day of assessments. I have just finished marking both the arithmetic and reasoning maths papers and I am completely blown away by how well you have all done. It is so obvious how much you have already learned this term and I am so proud of you all.
