Celery experiment! 🌱💦

Yesterday, Class 11 were able to see how water was transported through the celery, after a full weekend drinking the food coloured water. It didn’t go as we expected however we did see some effects of how water travels through plants. We wondered if there was too much water, not enough sunlight or whether the celery needed more time to transport the food colouring?

YOUNG VOICES REMINDER – FRIDAY 10th FEBRUARY!

Young Voices is NEARLY here!! Children will be leaving school at 12pm to arrive at Utilita Arena in time for rehearsals to start at 1pm. Children will have lunch early in school before leaving.

Children will need a packed lunch for their tea and plenty to drink – We will be having an hour at 5pm for children to be able to eat in the arena before the concert begins.

I have received all of the children’s T-Shirts and Torches and will distribute them to the children on the day. Children should come to school in their usual school uniform and can change their T-Shirts before we leave.

Concert Times:

Venue doors open at 6pm for all adults who are attending. The Concert starts at 7pm and finishes at 8:45pm. All adult tickets will be given to children by the end of tomorrow to bring home at 3pm. There is also a letter that gives further information about parking.

All children are to return to school on the coach and no children will be permitted to leave the arena with their parents. The coach will drop everyone off at the main school gates at approximately 9:45pm.

Crew Knowles: E-Safety Day

We have really enjoyed our E-Safety drop down day today looking at lots of different aspects of the online world. We started by looking at the difference between the internet and the world wide web and how we are all connected through the internet. We then looked at the positives and negatives of the online world and learned that it can actually be very beneficial to us in our every day life!

Although the internet has lots of positives, we learned the importance of ensure that we find the right balance of screen time and non-screen time. We listened to a great story which helped us to understand this! Why not listen to it here?

We then focused on digital kindness and cyberbullying and how we can keep ourselves safe online by speaking to a trusted adult about any concerns we have. Well done guys, we’re all E-Safety savvy after today!

Year 2 grammar website

Green Top now has a grammar and punctuation website that is a great location for parents and carers to get practice papers and resources to support with any home learning or to see what we have been learning to support our English this year. Thank you to Mrs Jackson, our English lead who has created this great resource. If you would like any more information, please do ask Miss Good or Mrs Shaw. The link to the site is here.

New Year 1 SPaG Parent’s Site

Good evening all. I wanted to share with you an exciting new site to explain and support you in helping your child practise their spelling, punctuation and grammar skills. Mrs. Jackson has put together some very useful information for parents and carers to explain what and how we teach these very important skills. There are also videos, slide presentations and practise papers to help your child succeed. Click on the link here to access the site for Year 1. Should you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact Miss Schon or myself.

With many thanks for your continued support

Year 1 Maths – Numbots

Today we introduced the children in Year 1 to ‘Numbots’. Just like TTRockstars you can download the Numbots app and use the same log-in details to access the Numbots games. These games practise the skills of subtilising, number bonds, addition and subtraction. At first the games may appear to be easy but this is because it is practising children’s quick recall skills. The games progressively get harder the more you play. Once children reach level 26 the ‘Challenge’ section will unlock and children will be able to choose their own games that they want to practise.

We hope that you enjoy watching your child’s skills improving each time they play!
