Class 13 – Layers of Soil 🪱

We have been looking at the different layers of soil that we can find below us. For each different layer, we have been researching what it is made up of and some of the different things we might find in each layer such and plant roots, rocks and even living creatures!

Crew Knowles: Building Crew!

We had a team building session this morning in crew where the children had to work together to make sure everyone was stood on the carpet tiles without touching the floor! They communicated really well and came up with lots of creative ways to support each other!

Year 5 – Hook Week so far!

So far this week, to immerse ourselves into our new Expedition, we have enjoyed a treasure hunt looking at different sources to predict what we think our learning will be about. We then built our background knowledge of Headstocks and began some artwork to display in the classroom.

Yesterday, we used our previous knowledge of pulleys to work in teams to design and build headstocks to lift pieces of coal.

A great start to the week – I wonder what we’ll be up to next!

More immersion in class 7

We spent today incorporating feedback into another draft of our self portraits and continuing the immersion of our classroom by making split pin palace guards. Beau won our postcard today for his amazing attitude to learning. Keep up the good work superstars!

Class 11 Academic Crew!

Today, Class 11 worked in their Crews to create pledges based on their previous assessments from Spring. We critiqued our assessments with a notice, praise and wonder, which enabled us to create 3 pledges in what we will do to ensure we improve our outcomes. This included coaching others and practising on TT Rockstars more, amongst other ideas. We will reflect on these to ensure that we are achieving these goals!

Class 12: Second day of Hook Week!

We’ve had another lovely day in Class 12 today! We’ve looked at the different layers of soil (did you know there are 5?) as well as enjoyed looking at some of our new expedition books. Everyone loved looking at the books and have already learnt some great new facts that they enjoyed sharing!
