You could have a look around your house or even venture outside on a walk. Count how many different red things you can find to share with your crew on Monday. You could even take some pictures or draw what you can see.

KS1 Community Crew

WOW, what a week it has been this week, from all of KS1 staff, a huge thank you for everyones hard word during our assessment week. We have seen some incredible improvements, especially in maths. I think that might be down to the wonderful work done on TTRockstars and Numbots.

Our stewardship shoutouts this week were for children who have been keeping their classrooms neat and tidy and taking ownership of their actions, choosing to tidy up after themselves but also doing it for their peers too. It is lovely to see such kind and helpful children in our phase!

We even had an amazing reading shoutout for Thea this week for getting her Gold reading certificate! What a superstar.

The best attendance this week goes to Crew Rodgers, well done to everyone in Crew Rodgers, who can beat them next week?!

Another HUGE shoutout to our Out Of This World’s this week. We found it so hard to choose this week, as everyone has worked so hard, but big well done to Lauren, Luna, Ethan, Ava, Reid and Ava-Leigh!!

I wonder who will be Out Of This World next week……

Crew Ambler – Science

As part of science week, this morning we took on the role of forensic scientists; we explored how to take our fingerprints. Everyone was able to identify whether their fingerprint pattern was loop, whorl or arch.

Crew Knowles: Science Investigation

Jack, our crew councillor, did a wonderful job of leading his crew in a science investigation involving fingerprints! He was so patient and supportive with everyone and did a great job of explaining the task! It was really interesting to see everyone’s finger prints and figure out whether they were made up of loops, arches or whorls! Fantastic work Jack!

Class 14 – Investigating Yeast

Yesterday, we investigated at what temperature yeast works best at. After making our predictions, we worked together to set up the investigation making sure to measure carefully. We gave each bottle a good shake and then left them for 10 minutes before measuring each balloon. Then, we decided to leave the bottles over night to see what would happen.

Nutritious food! 🍎🌱

Today, Class 11 have been looking into food and their nutritional value. We looked at what the Eatwell food chart to show what is needed for a balanced diet and why. After this, we then looked at how the different nutrients, such as carbohydrates and fibre, help our body.

We then worked really well and collaboratively with the iPads, looking into the red label of a McDonald’s food order. Unfortunately, we couldn’t order them and that was lucky for us, as the amount of salts and sugars surprised some of us.

Here is a sneak peak into the work the classroom during our work.

P.S. – we apologise in advance for any conversations around the food labels, as I know some of us were already checking at lunch!

Does having longer legs make you jump further?

On Tuesday, we investigated whether height affected the distance that you can jump. We predicted that the taller you are the further that you could travel. However, after carrying out the experiment and using tape measures to measure the distance, we found that it didn’t matter how tall you was and was surprised to see that some of the shorter people in our Crew jumped the furthest.
