Y6- Key dates and leavers hoodies

I am delighted to share key dates with you as we go into the final half term for our current Y6 children. More details will be communicated for our leavers trip and party shortly. As always, please contact me at [email protected] or speak to your child’s crew leader with any questions you may have. In the meantime, thank you for your continued support as we try and make their end of primary schooling as memorable as possible.

Kind regards

Mr Mumby

Crew Knowles: Beautiful Writing!

I have been blown away with the efforts that Class 12 have put into their writing touchdowns. We have written newspaper reports about Mount Vesuvius erupting and destroying the city of Pompeii. Everyone ensured that they included the features we have been looking at such as fronted adverbials and inverted commas for direct speech. Well done!

Crew Knowles: Tectonic Plates

In geography today, we looked the different tectonic plates that make up the earth. We worked collaboratively to piece the tectonic plates back together and we also learned that they are the reason we have mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes!

Science experiment in Nursery

This week in expedition we have been learning about sinking and floating. The children have loved playing with different water toys and looking at boats. Today we carried out a science experiment to see which objects would float and sink.

The children have had so much fun being scientists in Nursery.

Reception Phonics

In our phonics sessions we learn ‘Red’ words. These are the words that the children cannot decode. They can use different clues to help them, but there are elements that make them tricky.

If you would like to practise these at home this would really help your children with their reading.

Below is a list of all the red words that we have learned so far.

class 9 King Charles sketches

Class 9 have been busy this week completing assessments with me but while theyve been in class they have practicing their sketching skills with Mrs Miller. They have had a go at drawing a portrait of King Charles III. They made 2 drafts, which they critiqued, before adding the final details to their third drafts. They then looked at the lines on his face, as well as the dark and light shading.

I think they look amazing…I am so impressed! Well done class 9

Key stage 1 castle product

Year 1 and 2 have put their amazing castle that they created using their new design and technology skills, into our local community. It has pride of place at the entrance to Thorne library and some children will be going next week to take a photograph for their product launch!

If you would like to go and visit the castle, why not sign up for a library card at the same time!

Well done key stage 1…what great work!
