Class 10’s amazing art!

The amazing class 10 proudly showing off their fabulous sketching! Miss Cooper and I are so impressed with everyone’s efforts this afternoon. Class 10 took into account the different ways of showing light and dark, where to hold the pencil to ensure they get smooth lines, and the many techniques of shading. You superstars!

Click on the link to see what we got up to on our walk around some areas of Thorne yesterday.

It was great to walk through the park and discuss the cenotaph and the history of the park, wander down the canal to Thorne Lock where we were lucky enough to see a narrow boat come through and watch the whole process (the gentleman on the boat was kind enough to discuss everything with the children whilst in the lock, waiting for the water) and then head back towards school, stopping off at the fire station.

We also discussed the different types of houses on our travels and how different they all are and how large Thorne is.

When we returned back to school, we held a circle to give children the opportunity to discuss their highlight of the walk and why.

The children conducted themselves beautifully as always/ very sensible and respectful. Well done Class 7, you’re all superstars 🌟

As our new expedition is about where we live, it is also important to think about who we live with. It has been lovely to discuss all of the different types of families that make up Class 7; big and small.

To enhance our home corner, the children have drawn and coloured in a family portrait to go on our mantle piece as well as creating these family crafts that you can see in the above photos. The children have used buttons for family member faces and have drawn their bodies on afterwards and have used lollipop sticks to represent the walls of the homes that they will in.

I am so blown away by the amazing efforts of the children so far this week! Lots of Motivated Moe’s!!!!

What do we want to know?

Class 7 have started their new expedition this week ‘Would you like to live in a place like this?’ by thinking about and discussing together what they already know about Thorne and also what they would like to find out during this learning process.

We are so excited to focus on our three different curriculum areas throughout this expedition; History, Geography and Religious Education and gain lots of new knowledge!

Our Pledge ✋🏻

Today the children of Class 7 have been so reflective on their learning and held a circle about how they can improve their learning for the rest of their time in Year 2.

The children have made a pledge as part of their New Years Resolution and are very excited to start right away!

We ask you, to help us, by helping them, to make these pledges a reality. Thank you as always for your support.

We are Crew ❤️🤝

Our new class text

The children blew me away with their enthusiasm and how they worked together to investigate and build on each others ideas and responses. Well done guys you were fabulous as always!

Place value houses

This morning Class 5 used their knowledge of place value to create house pictures.  They selected a 2 digit number that they wrote on the house roof.  They then selected the correct number of ten strips and one squares to build the house walls and windows.  They look brilliant and the children demonstrated a great understanding of place value.  I can’t wait to add them to our class display.
