We have been learning all about capacity in Reception. We have been working hard to understand and use the language of capacity including, full, half full, empty, nearly empty, nearly full. The children were amazing at showing their learning in their own play.
We had a gorgeous crew session this morning where the Year 6s supported the Y3 children in a maths orienteering activity! It was so lovely to see the compassion that our Year 6s displayed and the courage that Year 3 displayed!
We have enjoyed doing lots of fun maths activities this week. We have loved doing some practical things and we were being human scales and finding things that were heavier and lighter.
We had so much fun and it was lovely to hear the children using the correct mathematical vocabulary in the lesson, but then in their play too.
Well done everyone

This week in Phonics we have been covering the following sound. The sounds will be sent out for the children to be practising to recognise the digraph, say the digraph and then write the grapheme.
The children are really starting to learn and retain those sounds but will need support to blend those sounds together. Have a go at the green words and the more they hear those sounds being blended the easier it will become. There is a sentence to read on the bottom of the sheet also. Reading this and also reading the reading books that the children now have will all help to increase and improve the children’s fluency in their reading.
Thanks
Mrs Wallace and Mrs Jones.
On Tuesday we designed our own plant pots and critiqued them so that it would be our best work, thinking about a beautiful design and keeping it neat. On Wednesday we had so much fun painting our own plant pots based on our designs, we worked hard to make sure they matched our designs and used fine paintbrushes to make sure we could get all the details on.
Well done to these children for showing us all the character traits of being a Crew champion. You deserve this and we are so proud of you.

Well done to these children for being our HOWL point winners this week. Keep up the great work!

This week we have been focusing on different ways we can improve our reading fluency. Today we worked in small groups to rehearse our performance of our weekly text, a poem called Grannie’. It was great to see the collaboration and listen in to the discussions around the different components of fluency. Well done guys – I always enjoy our reading lessons!
