Today we are launching TT Rockstars with Year 1. You can download the app for children to create their avatar and explore the game. Please persevere with the game as the children may find it tricky at first and may need your help to work out the answers but please do not play the game for them as it contains an algorithm which will gradually introduce more and more questions as the children’s knowledge increases as well as helping them to embed the facts they already know. Children’s log-in details are the same as their Numbots log-in details and I have sent home a letter with a reminder of this. If you would like to find out more please watch these short information videos.
There is one for adults and one for children.
Any questions please drop me a message.
Have a lovely long weekend

We’ve had a busy week this week practising for SATs so we spent the afternoon investigating sound by making ‘sound enhancers’ and investigating pitch using elastic bands! #ScienceWeek #OgdenTrust

The children have made their own parachutes today and tested to see which design worked the best. They had discussions about gravity and air resistance and had lots of fun! You are fantastic scientists, well done!
As today is our “Friday” due to tomorrow’s training day, Class 10 have enjoyed a Terrific Thursday – complete with a treat for earning ALL of the ‘Stars in the Jar’! Class 10 have had a super week completing lots of assessments as well as science experiments for our Science Week. Great job guys, keep it up!
Today the children were shown a plate of skittles as asked ‘What would happen if we poured water on them?’ We had some interesting predictions
Lenny said “They will grow”
Erin said “It will make a rainbow”
Vincent T said “It will make a plant”
Henry R said “It will grow an animal”
The children waited eagerly and were thrilled when it created a rainbow.
Good work everyone
This week in Phonics we have been covering the following sound. The sounds will be sent out for the children to be practising to recognise the digraph, say the digraph and then write the grapheme.
The children are really starting to learn and retain those sounds but will need support to blend those sounds together. Have a go at the green words and the more they hear those sounds being blended the easier it will become. There is a sentence to read on the bottom of the sheet also. Reading this and also reading the reading books that the children now have will all help to increase and improve the children’s fluency in their reading.
Thanks
Mrs Wallace and Mrs Jones.
Today, for Science Week, we have been learning about reflection and exploring different reflective surfaces in the classroom in order to create posters with our friends about our learning.
On Tuesday, Day 2 of our Science Week, Class 10 enjoyed exploring shadows in the playground by drawing around them with chalk. Then back in the classroom, we investigated how the distance of the light source from the object effects the size of the shadow. We found that the further away the light source, the thinner the shadow!
