Nursery XP outdoors – PIZZA MAKING

A very lovely afternoon spent with Mr Kershaw for our XP Outdoors session. The children learnt about fire safety, how to keep a fire burning and how to make a pizza using tortilla wraps, tomato and herb sauce and cheese. The children then cooked them with care on the fire and enjoyed eating them once they were all oozy and warm. What a delicious treat for a Monday afternoon!

A huge shout out to all of the Nursery children for their excellent listening skills and awareness of the danger of fire which meant we could have an exciting experience safely.

Nursery – Addition

Last week in Nursery the children were learning how to add using concrete objects. The children started to recognise the symbols + and = . They began reading number sentences and talking about amounts and knowing that when we add the number will always get bigger. The children worked so hard and the grown ups were so impressed with how confident the children quickly became in adding two amounts.

REMINDER – Nursery Cinderella-inspired Ball

We are delighted to invite you to our EYFS Presentation of Learning for the Nursery children, taking place on Wednesday 25th June from 1.15 – 2pm.

During this special event, the children will showcase their learning journey from our Expedition, “Once Upon a Time,” as they explore the Guiding Question: “Who is hiding in the pages of our book?” To celebrate their learning, we will be hosting a Cinderella-inspired Ball as part of the presentation.

In preparation, the children have been designing and creating their own tickets for the Ball. We kindly ask for a £5 donation per ticket, to be paid via ParentPay, which includes entry for the child, two accompanying adults, refreshments and the product that they have helped to make this term which they can then take home with them.

The Ball promises to be a magical occasion, featuring a red carpet entrance, a ballroom dance performance, photo booth opportunities, refreshments, and perhaps even a surprise guest appearance! It will be a joyful and memorable way to mark the end of the Summer term.

We very much look forward to seeing you there and celebrating the children’s achievements together.

Warm regards,
Mrs Burton & Mrs Hay

Afternoon crew and snacks in Nursery

We have had a gorgeous afternoon crew session in the garden following our sports day practise. The children were feeling a little hot and bothered so we had fruit, biscuits and juice outside. We sang nursery rhymes and practised our sign language for banana, orange, apple, water, biscuit and please and thank you. The children are excellent at it! Why not try at home following the signs below…

HAPPY WORLD BEE DAY Nursery!

Israel and Bobby have in Nursery have enjoyed creating honeycomb prints on World Bee Day!

Here are some ways you can help save the bees at home…

Food for bees

Bees need a wide range of plants that flower from spring to autumn to feed from. These include:

  • alyssum, cornflower, sunflower, michaelmas daisy and sweet william for nectar in summer
  • bluebells, rosemary, geranium and honeysuckle
  • ivy and shrub willows for food in early and late parts of the year

Creating shelters for bumblebees

Bumblebees need to find places to nest and hibernate in. You can help by:

  • creating patches of bare earth in warm sheltered spaces for nesting sites
  • leaving a pile of stones, dead plant stems, fallen leaves and log piles for bumble bees to hibernate in over winter
