Reception enjoying movement!

This week the children in reception enjoyed a hall session exploring movement. The children learned new words such as ‘balance’ and ‘control’ and had to use their bodies to use animal actions and balance in games. The children had lots of fun playing ‘The zookeeper!’ and making their bodies as tall and wide as they could and moving as fast and slow as they could! Here are some of our actions caught on camera!

Design a library!

This year, we are working hard to raise money to develop our reading for pleasure library so firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you for all your sponsors from the colour run which will go along way to helping us!

Secondly, we still need your help! We would love for you to help us design the library based on the space we have to use which is the foyer area near the hall.

Please design your ideal library and share your plans with Miss Knowles in person or at [email protected] This is for everyone across school to get involved in! Please send your plans by 7th October.

We can’t wait to see your fantastic ideas which will help us design the perfect library!

Crew Wallace this week. . .

This week the children have been showing wonderful HOWLs and following our Crew Norms beautifully! We have been painting, writing, drawing and of course doing lots of purposeful play!

Well done Crew Wallace, I am so proud of you all.

Crew Wallace Phonics

This week we have been practising writing our graphemes in lots of different ways. We are building up our skills and I have been really impressed with the quality of the children’s writing.

Well done everyone

Reception Phonics this week

This week the children have been practicing hearing their first set of phonemes in words s/a/t/p, fast blending the phonemes to say words and at breaking down the phonemes in a word! We have been writing the grapheme in lots of different ways to become more confident and remember how to form the graphemes correctly!

The children will receive a homework sheet every Friday (starting today) to practise and consolidate the sounds that we have covered that week. It would be really helpful to aid your child’s progress to practise these phonemes with them daily to ensure that they can retain those sounds.

If you are unsure about phonics or some of the phonics vocabulary that we use with the children we will be holding a Phonics Family Learning session on Wednesday 25th September from 2-3. This session will explain what our phonics sessions look like, the vocabulary used and what you can do to support your child.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask a member of the F2 team.

Reception Welcome

Now that we are all settled into Reception. We will keep parents up to date with things that are happening in school through our class blogs. Today we wanted to share a few expectations that help to keep things running smoothly.

  • Please ensure all uniform is labelled with your child’s name. If it is not labelled staff will label it. This ensures we have minimal – no lost property in school
  • Please ensure children bring a bag to school each day to keep their belongings safe. Children are asked to keep many things safe in their backpack and it also helps children to carry all of their belongings at the end of the day (water bottles, jumpers, cardigans, art work, letters etc)
  • All children should bring a name labelled water bottle filled with water only every day
  • Please remember we have a no toys rule in school – please keep all toys/teddy bears etc at home
  • All children will need a change of clothes in their backpack in case of any accidents or getting wet or dirty during play

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask a member of the Reception team in person or contact us via email.

We are looking forward to a wonderful year in Reception with your child creating precious memories.

The Everywhere Bear

This week we have been reading The Everywhere Bear. We made our very own Everywhere Bear in our Expedition sessions. We added the stuffing to the bear and we each gave his heart a cuddle or a kiss so that there is a little piece of all of our Crew in the bear.

We each chose a name and then we decided by doing a Crew vote. The winning name was Nibbles. Every Friday Nibbles will go home with one of our children to have a weekend adventure.

His first trip is tomorrow . . . I wonder where he will go?

We can’t wait to share in his travels.

Reception- hooking into expedition!

Today the reception children hooked into their new expedition ‘Be kind’ exploring the question ‘How do we show we care?’ The children gave thought to how we can care in our school, home and further community. The children painted stones for their school kindness garden and had a wonderful day being a kind crew!

Reception at Greentop camp!

Today the children in reception enjoyed lots of camp activities on the big field! The children took part toasting marshmallows, reading stories in the tents, playing bean bag toss and bat and ball! Here are some of our magical moments!
