Characteristics of animals

This morning class 8 read the characteristics of the main animal groups in a scavenger hunt and learnt all about reptiles, amphibians, mammals, fish and birds.

Afterwards we did a quiz using the animal finger puppets and then in collaborative groups the children sorted animals collaboratively.

To assess their learning this morning they completed an exit ticket where they wrote sentences about specific animals.

What a busy and exciting morning they have had full of lots of expeditionary learning!

Great work crew 👏

Money mayhem

Today we have been comparing amounts using the more than or less than symbols. There was some great collaborative work today too, well done .

It would be great if the children could practice making amounts with coins at home to help with their maths this week.

Don’t forget to post any photos to our year 2 Google classroom!

Academic crew in year 2

class 8 have been looking at last year’s work books and we were so impressed with the pride and presentation they had in their work so this is now our class target.

All children have tried so hard today to produce their neatest and best work…let’s keep it up because your new workbooks look great!

Well done

Crew leading reading crew!

Thanks so much Heidi for sharing your picture book from home today. It was so lovely to see how much you loved reading the book to your crew. I definitely think the rest of the class loved your book too. Keep up the great reading 📚

Well done x

What a Braille-iant Day!

In community crew today class 8 learnt about how an inspirational boy of 15 years old invented the braille system.

They each had a go at using the braille system to write in ‘code’. They worked really hard to be accurate in their letter choices!

Well done crew!

Stewardship in class 8

The children took ownership of our reading area today by browsing all of the books that we had in our class (there were a lot!!!!) They themselves then decided which linked to our expedition and chose which books they wanted to be displayed on the shelves this term. They helped me to organise them into fiction and non fiction books, as well as picture and chapter books. Great work class 8…it looks loads better!

Exciting immersion in class 8

It was so great to see everyone back in class today…it feels like it’s been a long 2 weeks! We began the huge task of making our classroom look like an under the sea environment. It is already looking great. The children today designed their own fish and made fish scales for their picture…can’t wait to see them finished!
