Thank you so much to Albie’s grandad for coming in to talk to us about his allotment and how he plants and grows vegetables. He has kindly given both classes a strawberry plant, some cress and some peas. We can’t wait to watch them grow!

I have seen some beautiful reading this week. The children’s confidence is growing week on week and it is so lovely to see. The children are also becoming much more confident with their sentence writing. Now we are working to secure our spelling skills. Keep it up – I am so proud of you.
In addition to this the children have also been doing some extra phonics lessons in the afternoons. This week and next week we will be learning the split digraph sounds like Miss Rodger’s and Mrs Clay’s group. So far we have learned /a-e/, /e-e/ and /i-e/. I wonder if you can read words for the sheets below?
Class 8 started their sponsored read event today. I can’t wait to see how many minutes we tally up as a class at school! Fantastic reading, you have come on so much!
The children were practising their dictionary skills today. We read our new expedition book ‘Zombies don’t eat veggies’ and we used the dictionaries to find the definition of some new vocabulary. They did great, I was very impressed!
Miss Cooper has been really pleased with her phonics group over the past few weeks. Some of the children blew us away with heir phonics check scores and their accuracy when reading words!
This week the children have been learning /ar/ start the car.
Miss Cooper has been encouraging children to read their reading books at home to show off their super reading skills. Please read with your child as often as possible as reading the same books more than once will really help their confidence and reading fluency. Also please remember to practise your phonics homework sheets and red words!
