I have enjoyed this week with the children in class 8 so much! It has been such a pleasure to get to know them and we have had some very exciting experiences! Today has been all about team building where we played the hoop game, thought about what we do that makes us a superhero and then Mr Kershaw set us up an assault course, which was lots of fun.

Next week Key Stage One will be continuing their community work within the local area, each class will be out on a visit each afternoon, as follows:
Mon – Class 8
Tues – Class 6
Wed – Class 7
Thur – Class 5
We are also looking forward to a visit from our local councillor, Susan Durant, on Wednesday morning where we will be able to ask questions about her work with the local food bank.
Then on Friday, children are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite superhero (fictional or real-life) and we will be hosting a family learning event in the afternoon (1.30 – 2.30) where parents and carers can enjoy a range of hero-themed activities with the Key Stage. We hope you can attend and we look forward to seeing you there! Further details will be shared with you on Monday. Please note that dress-up is optional for the children.
Class 8 have worked really hard today to create some cards to give to the residents. The children put in a lot of effort and wrote beautiful messages inside. I am so proud of them today! Well done class 8

We have had the best afternoon visiting Parklands this afternoon and it was absolutely beautiful. They had prepared some great activities for the children to play with the residents and gave us a lovely present and card to thank the children for really cheering them all up. Thank you so much to all of the staff at Parklands for making us feel so welcome…we really had such an enjoyable time.

Year 2 will be spreading more cheer in the community this afternoon and will be visiting local care homes and taking them gifts that they have made. If you would like your child to opt out of this, please do let their class teacher know. Thank you!

Class 8 have been working hard to set a fantastic example for their local community today. They were role models walking sensibly through Thorne and were reminding everyone about using the bins. They were extremely careful and used the equipment brilliantly. I am so proud of them today! Well done my superheroes!

I have had such a wonderful day today getting to know the children and hearing all about their Summer holidays. They have been such a joy today and created such beautiful work. I hope you loved seeing the positive messages that they wrote on their keyrings today…they put so much effort into them and they looked fabulous! Well done class 8! Just to let parents and carers know that year 2 will be going on a local walk in the afternoon to litter pick, as part of us helping the local community. You do not need to do anything extra but please make sure that the children have a jacket in case it rains while we are out. You have already signed the parental consent forms last year and they are still valid.

We had a fabulous picnic yesterday in the sunshine on the school field. Thank you so much to all of the parents and carers who came and enjoyed it with us!
