Crew Shaw had a fantastic debate this morning. We were deciding whether the children thought that technology was good or bad for our bodies, minds and the world. They came up with their own arguments using their own opinions and decided which side they would be on…for or against!
I really enjoyed listening to their points of view and how respectful they were of others views!
Crew Shaw were very excited to spend their 100% attendance money at the attendance shop today! Keep it up guys, the more we get, the more we get to spend at the shop next term too!

We have had the best morning at Thorne park! We were the first ever children to play on Thorne Park and it really was a special moment when they opened the gates for the first time. We have hidden kindness stones for people to find and we even had a go on the train! What a wonderful morning we have had x
The children had fun with magnets today! They had a look to see how they attracted and repelled each other. They then found different objects around the classroom to see what was attracted to the magnets. The children then tested metal stationary to see how many they could attach to their magnet…it was lots of fun!
A huge well done to all of our winners this week. We had lots of boys celebrating HoWl points this week, some super stewards, fantastic mathematicians on numbots and tt rockstars, as well as our fantastic crew champions this week. It was great to hear about your craftsmanship and quality and the respect you have been showing.
Also, a huge well done to Crew Schon with 100% again…you are smashing it this term…well done!
Yesterday class 8 enjoyed testing different objects to see which were the best at floating and which ones sunk. They predicted what would happen based on the material of the object.
They had lots of fun but it was also great to see them using their knowledge of materials from our Autumn term expedition!

Miss Schon’s Group: This week we have been doing our assessments. All children are doing great at remembering their phonics and reading words. Some children are struggling a little with their red words or reading fluency. Keep practising your reading at home as often as possible as we have been doing so well with our memory skills now we need to keep up the practise!

Miss Rodger’s Group: This week the children are learning the final split digraph sound /u-e/ huge cube. Next week the children will take part in their next assessment to see how they are progressing with their learning.
Miss Schon’s group have also been pre-learning all the split digraph sounds. Here is a video that explains how we read these sounds in a word.
Miss Cooper’s group: This week Miss Cooper’s group are learning the trig /ear/ – Near and Dear. This week Miss Cooper’s group will be taking part in their next assessment to check on their learning progress.
