Pyjama day

Year 1 have had a fantastic day today in their pyjamas! Everyone looked amazing and we think we need to come to school in our pyjamas more often.

We had a treat this afternoon of hot chocolate and a bun for all our hard work this week.

We hope you all have a lovely and safe half term and we will see you in a week.

Maths Madness

This week we have been learning all about position and direction, including clockwise and anti-clockwise directions. Despite finding some of this learning challenging, I have been really proud of how the children have grappled with this to succeed by the end of the week – well done everyone!

Magic medicine

we have been making amazing medicine today just like princess Pearl in Zog and the flying doctors. We used a wax candle and made patterns on the medicine bottle and then used watercolour paints to wash over the top to reveal the patterns.

The medicine bottles looked amazing and we all had lots of fun doing them.

well done everyone.

Fire breathing dragons

This afternoon in year 1 we had a go at making our own fire breathing dragons. We had to be connecting connie’s from our English learning and follow the instructions carefully to be successful.

what do you think? We hope you like them.

Friday dancing & smiling

To celebrate children’s mental health week, Class 8 have been getting real funky this Friday by learning the Jerusalema dance. We all agreed that having fun & moving our bodies to music was a good way to make us all smile 🙂 if you have time at home, why not give the dance a go by finding a tutorial on YouTube?!

Dragon eyes

This afternoon we have made dragon eyes from clay using tools. We have had to shape the clay and flatten it with our hands. Then we used different clay tools to make patterns and shapes to show the dragon skin and scales.

Fantastic effort from year 1 this afternoon keep checking the blog to see the finished products.

We need to say a big thank you to all the children for putting lots of effort in and being really sensible when tidying the clay up.

Thank you everyone!

Being happy

As part of child mental health week we have been sharing what we can do to feel happy when we don’t feel very happy. We shared our learning on our afternoon hangout with our friends at home. We all listened to a story on hangout about a boy who was in a big bad mood.

Crazy Catapults

Today, to hook the children into our new book ‘Dragon Stew’ we made catapults!

The children in school were given some materials and a few examples but no instructions and left to try and figure out how to make catapults for themselves.

We definitely had lots of Can-do Colin’s and Stickability Stan’s.

The children at home also had fun making catapults out of things they could find.
