The Bear 🐻 Part 3

The children were finally able to see the front cover of our book and read the first couple of pages. Their next job was to work in groups of three, each writing in a different coloured pencil, to write the next page of the story as we noticed the author had ‘forgotten’ to do this.

Our main focus was thinking of lots of adjectives about The Bear and what he was doing in the pictures. The children wrote some amazing sentences full of descriptive vocabulary! Well done superstars! 🌟

CHALLENGE!!

Can you draw us a picture of The Bear from our story and write a description of what he looks like underneath using lots of adjectives that we spoke about?

Second challenge- can you include the adjectives using commas in a list???

You can do it in your homework and show Mrs Faulding/Mrs Burton for a festive treat and 20 housepoints!

Can’t wait to see what you can come up with!

The Bear 🐻

Part two of our Christmas book hook was for the children to predict what the front cover of the book will look like now that they have only the title of the story.

I was blown away by the logical predictions that the children came up with and their reasons behind them. We were also lucky enough to have Miss Salter in with us for part of the lesson and she too couldn’t believe the amazing ideas that Class 7 had just from knowing the title. She was very impressed guys!!

I have to say, Class 7’s finished book covers are actually better than the actual front cover! You’re all superstars 🌟

This week in English marked the start of our new Christmas text. It was all very exciting as the children were given letters in an envelope and worked in groups to figure out what the title of our new text was.

The children worked fab together, giving each other lots of encouragement and never gave up until they worked out the title. So many Motivated Moe’s!

The arrival of Buddy the Elf! 🎄

This week, we had a very unexpected visitor in Class 7’s classroom.

He was small, dressed in green with pointy ears but didn’t have a name yet. So on Monday morning, Class 7 thought of a name for him, the most popular name was Buddy!

Now Buddy told us he can be a little bit naughty, and he’s right! He hasn’t stopped ALL week!!!

Let’s hope he’s better behaved next week!

In F2 and KS1 we always love to hear all about the wonderful things you get up to in your spare time.  Today we celebrated martial arts, dance class, Irish dance competitions and swimming.  We are all so talented at Green Top!

Key stage 1 theme celebration

What a fantastic celebration of key stage 1 learning this morning. We heard all about animals and all the interesting facts we had learnt about them, some fabulous art work based on Henri Rousseau and to top it off some beautiful singing with actions! Year 1 also did a gorgeous Gerald the giraffe dance! Well done everyone! All the staff in key stage 1 are so proud of you all!

Doncaster 10k 🏅

Thank you so much Oscar for sharing this beautiful medal with Class 7 this week.

Oscar proudly showed off the medal that his mum received on Sunday for completing the Doncaster 10k.

Well done to Oscar’s mum on this amazing achievement. We spoke about how many miles 10k was and if anyone wanted to have a go at running one, one day too! Lots of hands were up. I’m thinking…Green Top 10k? Let me know if you fancy it! 🏃🏽‍♀️🏅🏃🏻‍♂️
