Class 10 – Hit the Drums (again!)
This week was our turn to get banging those beats out once again with another fab chair drumming session by Mr Pickles! We are getting better at listening to instructions and waiting for the beat before rocking away so our music is getting better and better each time … well done, everyone!
Class 10 – A Special End of Day Story by Tyler
A big thank you to Tyler from Year 4. Today, in his role as ‘reading ambassador’, Tyler joined our crew and read us a great story – all about a cow in space! Well done, Tyler – you showed great courage and we enjoyed listening to your funny and amusing story.
Class 10 – Beautiful Home Learning
This week, we have had a number of lovely contributions to our home learning displays. Shout outs go to: Beatrice and Aria, who have both produced beautifully coloured and labelled diagrams of volcanoes; Delia, who made a lovely Union Jack flag to commemorate VE Day; and, Reid, who took our practice of direct speech and inverted commas back home to really hone his skills – great job!
Class 10 – Read All About It! (Newspaper Writing)
In Year 3, we have started work on writing newspaper articles all about a volcanic eruption! To help us, we have explored a model text about a deadly volcano in Thorne … Mount Peel, of course! And, we have been using images from our key text – Escape From Pompeii – to help generate ideas and vocabulary that we will then use in our own writing. I can’t wait to read everyone’s final reports next week 🙂
Class 10 – Tosia: Caught being Kind!
Tosia in Class 10 is always being kind and helpful with her crew mates so it was lovely to catch this on camera last week as Tosia was helping McKenzie by pouring his water for his lunch. Well done, Tosia – keep up the great work! Who will be caught on camera next???
Y3/4 – VE Day Assembly by the Royal British Legion
Last Thursday, in preparation for the celebration of VE Day tomorrow, we enjoyed a special assembly by the Royal British Legion. We enjoyed hearing stories from the original VE Day – 80 years ago! and, we reflected on the differences in childhood between then and now.
Don’t forget that tomorrow marks 80 years since WW2 ended and the very first VE Day was celebrated. To join in the celebrations, children are welcome to come to school in red, white and blue outfits to represent the Union Jack flag and to remember this historical day.
Y3/4 Community Meeting
Well done to all children who received an award linked to our habits of work of learning and our character traits this week. Keep up the great work!
Class 10 – Fabulous Home Learning
Class 10 have loved learning all about earthquakes and volcanoes this last week, and Martha has worked hard on producing this lovely labelled diagram of a volcano for her home learning. Well done, Martha – I can’t wait to see everyone else’s home learning as the weeks go on 🙂
Class 10 – Extra PE Session this Friday – kit needed
Class 10 are lucky enough to be accessing an extra PE session this Friday, with YourPE. Please can you ensure they have their kits and trainers with them. The session will be outdoors so please send hats, sunscreen and water bottles as the warm weather is expected to remain. Thank you, Mrs Dutton.
