Diwali Celebrations

This week, Class 6 have enjoyed learning about the Indian festival of Diwali which begins on Saturday. We have learned about the story of Rama and Sita, practised our fine motor skills by carefully colouring rangoli patterns and listened to some Diwali-inspired Indian music.

Diwali in Crew Barnett

This morning we have spent time in crew thinking about Diwali – The Festival of Light!

Here’s what we got up to.

It’s when they have lots of different colours ~ Kian

They light candles and put up lots of lights ~ Joel

They use their fingers to paint and leave their doors open ~ JJ

This is when they celebrate their new year which is different to ours ~ Ella-May

Look out for the final creation later!

Remembrance Day Class 10

The children have really enjoyed their remembrance day art work this afternoon. It was great to see the time and care they took drawing their poppies in honour of everyone who has lost their lives so that we can have everything we have today. Great work Class 10!

An interesting letter!

Today, Class 10 received an unexpected letter from Willy Wonka who needs our help to write instructions for some of his famous recipes.

This re-hook ready for our instructions hot piece has given the children some inspiration for their writing. We now need to plan, write, edit and write up our touch down instructions. We will share these with you when we have finished so keep a look out!

This week’s learning legends

It has been a great first week back in Class 10 and I have been blown away with how hard everyone has worked. The children are making it very difficult to pick a learning legend each day as there are so many that are following our HOWLs to work hard, be kind and get smart.

However, this weeks learning legends were Jacob, Rosie, Ella-May, Lewis and Jamie.

Tricky Maths this week!

In year 3 this week we have been learning how to multiply by ten and use column method for multiplication. It has been great to see all the children being Stickabilty Stans and Motivated Mos to complete there work.

Here is a video if the method we used for column multiplication if you want to have a go at home.
