Y3 / Class 10 – FWB Day 3

Today has been another super day in Class 10. We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about our character traits and how we can each be the best crew members possible as well as thinking about how we can work best as a team. We’ve also spent some time thinking about how we can be crew outside of the classroom in our school and local communities, and as part of this we enjoyed some time outdoors litter picking on the Key Stage 2 playground.

Well done everybody, another fabulous day!

Y3/ Class 10 – Welcome Back Day 2

Today was another fantastic and jam-packed day for Class 10 in Year 3. We started the day by thinking about how we can help each other and ourselves to demonstrate the Green Top Character Traits – courage, respect, integrity, quality & craftsmanship, and compassion. Then we enjoyed a story called, ‘Our Class is a Family’ which led us to get creative and make some paper doll chains that we can display and help us to remember this important sentiment. This afternoon, we reflected on how our classroom and learning experiences can help us to grow in Year 3, and we likened this to blooming plants and flowers before getting creative again and making some stained glass tissue paper flowers that will decorate our sink area in the classroom.

A huge well done to everybody today – we all persevered with some tricky artwork and made a fantastic job of it, too! Everybody has also been super polite and used good manners today so we’ll be sure to keep that up every day 🙂

Y3/4 Expedition field work

On Monday 2nd September, we will be taking year 3 and 4 children on an evacuation trip to our local Methodist Church as part of our new expedition. There is no expectation for children to dress up, however if they wish to they may. We will all be making a gas mask box, an identity label and a luggage label to take too.

The aim of the field work is for the children to experience something similar to what the children in WW2 did during their evacuation. We will leave school at 1pm with a return in time for 3pm pick up. We are hoping this work will engage the children into their new learning.

Here are some ideas for inspiration but please don’t feel you have to buy an outfit – see what you have in the trusty wardrobe!

Y3/ Class 10 – Our First Day!

Wow – what a fabulous first day we have had in our new Year 3 class. The boys and girls have all returned with super attitudes and a readiness to get started straight away … well done everybody!

We have enjoyed using the morning catching up and sharing all of our holiday news as well as recapping our crew norms and character traits. We enjoyed a story called ‘A Letter from Your Teacher on the First Day of School’ and used this to help us pen our own amazing letters to our crew explaining how we we plan to be a good crew mate in Year 3.

This afternoon, we enjoyed spending time with Mr Kershaw in the outdoor campsite where we played games, toasted marshmallows and even sang come campfire songs.

In the words of Chayce … ‘who knew Year 3 could be so much fun!’

Class 15 / Crew Dutton – and that’s a wrap 2024!

Wow – what a beautiful day to finish on … Let’s hope the sunshine stays for the rest of the holidays!

We started our day by testing our stewardship skills with litter picking on the school field (as suggested by Edward) before spending some time making thank you and well done postcards for different people around school who have helped us this year. After break we enjoyed a chill movie time together to finish off our party food snacks from yesterday and we even managed to squeeze in a little bit of crew playtime before our early finish for this afternoon’s picnic. Phew … We are definitely ready for the holidays now!

I would just like to take a moment to say a huge thank you to both the children of Class 15 and their parents / carers for your support since I took over from Miss Barnett in February. I have loved teaching your children this year and being a part of their Green Top journey – I can’t wait to see how they get on in Year 6 and will be sure to shed a tear or two when they pass out in 2025. Go smash it guys!

Finally, a huge thank you for all of your lovely farewell gifts, they are all very much appreciated. Best wishes for an awesome summer break, Mrs Dutton x

Crew Dutton – Wicked Diversity

This week in school, we are celebrating all things diversity!

In class 15, we took a look at the huge musical hit, Wicked and we thought about the different characters within it. Children worked in groups to roleplay a small part of the play, thinking carefully about the differences in the characters and their experiences as a result of these.

There was lots of talk about how we should respect and tolerate one another’s differences, and how important diversity is in our lives. Well done, everyone!

Crew Dutton Attendance Winners!

A huge well done to Robyn, Etta, Naomi and Charlie who have all made it to school every day since the Easter break – and a double well done goes to Charlie, Etta and Naomi for having 100% attendance across the whole of Year5… Well done guys, what an amazing achievement! As well as certificates, all our winners received some extra spending power at Mrs Fitz’s trolley of goodies … Definitely worth all those days in school!

Mrs Dutton’s new class rocks!

Today we have joined the whole school by designing and painting our own rocks in readiness for a #kindnessrocks project which will come together in the new academic year. Children decorated their own rock with their personal artwork and positive message – all ready to be enjoyed by others next year. Take a look at the slideshow below to see your child’s beautiful rock … Well done everyone – you’ve all done an amazing job!
