Well done to all of our fantastic role models! 👏

Well done to all of our fantastic role models! 👏
We had lots of fun last Friday to celebrate Red Nose Day! It was so lovely to see lots of our children in red and enjoy a treasure hunt planned by Miss Barnett and the school council!
In our expedition lessons, we have been learning all about the digestive system! We have been looking at the different organs that are involved in the digestive system and learning all about how food travels from our mouth all the way through our body.
Happy Red Nose Day! It is great to see so many of you dressed in red to show your support today. Thank you for all your generous donations. The school council have one last challenge for you! Over the weekend, we wonder how many different red things you can find.
You could have a look around your house or even venture outside on a walk. Count how many different red things you can find to share with your crew on Monday. You could even take some pictures or draw what you can see.
Well done to all our winners from this week! Whether you are a ’Star Reader’, ’HoWLs point winner’, our ‘Out of This World’ for this week or even just had a shout out, everyone of you have been a deserved winner. Well done!
Today marks the start of British Science Week and we can’t wait to get involved when we get back to school next week. Each crew will take part in a fascinating fingerprint investigation led by the school council. We will also have science club attending the coffee afternoon (Wednesday 15th) to share some of the exciting things we get up to at science club.
In the meantime, there are a few challenges you can get involved in at home and bring into school next week.
For Tuesday – Create a timeline of scientists through history. What are some of the greatest discoveries and who made them?
For Wednesday – Invent like a Victorian. Channel your inner inventor and design something to make life at home easier.
For Thursday – See and Eat Vegetables. Investigate the connection between how vegetables grow and how they end up on your plate.
You could also find your own investigations to try! Send any pictures of you being a scientist to your phase leaders. We can’t wait to see what you get up to!
Some great examples of home learning carried out by the children in Class 13.
Today in expedition, we have been researching some of the different food groups that make up a healthy balanced diet. The children looked at nutrients such as protein and carbohydrates and found out why our body needs them.
This afternoon, we have been looking at food labels and working out what constitutes a healthy meal. The children used the McDonalds nutrition calculator to find our how much energy, fat, sugars and salt was in each meal and whether or not this would be a healthy option for us.
In expedition this week, the children have been looking at how to classify different animals. We have been sorting animals based on their characteristics and then placing them into classification charts.
Over the past few weeks, we have been spending time rounding decimals in maths. We have looked at how we would round numbers with one decimal place to the nearest whole number and then played rounding bingo to create a bit of friendly competition!
