I would like to give a shout out to Brendan and his family, who over the holidays had a walk down to the community woods to see our expedition product. It looks like you had a lot of fun in the mud!
I would live to give a huge shout out to all the Y5 children who have logged on at home today and completed their expedition work. I have been very impressed with your blast off work and your work linked to cave paintings. Here are a few pictures of our cave paintings!

This morning in Crew Ambler we have been learning all about Christingle. A big shout out for Kaleb who lead the lesson as part of Crew Council. Everyone enjoyed the lesson especially putting their treats on. I’m sure there won’t be many left on tonight!
This morning, I had the great pleasure of going to Thorne community woods to see our final product. All the propaganda art work looks amazing and the QR codes which takes us to the site all work. On there you can see all the children’s amazing work throughout this expedition.
I would like to give a huge shout out to all the children in Y5/6 who have worked so hard throughout this expedition which we started all the way back in August! Despite COVID restrictions not allowing us to go on school visits the children have really embraced our Autumn expedition and I am really proud of their work on the product and the google site.
Well done Y5/6 and have a fantastic Christmas holidays. You all deserve it.

Class 16 have had a fun day creating Christmas cards and calendars for 2021. Mr Ambler was even brave enough to get the glitter and paints out! As well as creating cards and calendars we have been getting into the Christmas spirit singing songs and putting together our Christmas script. We can’t wait for you to see it!
As part of our expedition ‘how can we help the world we live in?’ we have focused on deforestation and the importance of trees. We had an expert visit us in school to teach us how trees adapt to their environment and we had a look around our grounds at some of the different trees. We were shocked how different all of the trees were and the different ways they had adapted to their surroundings!
A big shoutout and thank you to Mr Kershaw for taking the time to come and teach Year 5 lots of map reading skills during G Block today. Everyone enjoyed working together and taking part in fun activities. I was also so impressed listening to everyone’s new knowledge of using compasses! We can’t wait to put our new map reading skills into practice!
This morning in crew as part of ‘National Tree Week’ we have been discussing the importance of trees and why they are important to the environment we live in. In addition, this has linked perfectly to our expedition ‘How can we help the world we live in?’ The children were really reflective on the impact deforestation has locally and globally and what we can we do to help our local environment. As a crew we all made pledges to make our world a better place to live in. Well done Crew Ambler and Crew Jeeves for a fantastic community crew lesson.
