Year 5: D -Day Assembly with the Royal British Legion

Today, Year 5 enjoyed an assembly from Mick at the Royal British Legion. We learned all about the D-Day landings and why they are so important to our history, as well as finding out about the different ways in which the 80th Anniversary of D-Day will be celebrated tomorrow. Mick is Thorne’s Town Crier and he gave us a sneak preview of the important announcement that he will be making tomorrow morning at 8am to kick-start the celebrations (which will take place in Memorial Park throughout the day).

Year 5 – First Aid Workshop

Yesterday, we completed a basic first aid workshop. I was so impressed with the knowledge that the children already had and how they were able to confidently build on their knowledge. It was great to see all the children actively taking part with the practical demonstrations and discussion.

Well done everyone!

Year 5 – First Aid Workshop

Year 5 have enjoyed a first aid workshop today, as part of our expedition focus on healthy bodies. Children learnt about how to respond if they come across an injured person or somebody who might be choking. They were also shown the correct method for chest compressions.

We hope the children never need to use any of the skills they have learned today but, if they ever do, hopefully they will be much better prepared to do so. To help children remember the information learned today, they have all taken away an information booklet alongside their certificate. Well done everyone!

Crew Spetch – Awesome Home Learning!

A huge shout out to Chloe for all of her amazing home learning. It has been great to see how hooked Chloe has been in our Egyptian Case Study and she has brought in lots of home learning throughout the case study! It has definitely paid off – your historian knowledge is super impressive! Very proud!
