This week we have been getting used to using Jamboard as part of English. We enjoyed magpying ideas from each other and reading each other’s examples. The children from school joined too so they could see the great work that everyone at home was completing. Well done to everyone for being Stickability Stans yesterday, the fishbone lesson was difficult but you all did your very best and I was super impressed!
Today, we introduced ourselves to our new class text – SKELLIG. We used the front cover of the book and film to predict what we thought the story would be about and discussed the similarities and differences using the images. There were lots of great ideas and I was also really impressed with the ideas from everyone working at home, it was awesome to see all your ideas presented on the jamboard slides! I can’t wait to read more of the story tomorrow.
I have had the privilege of working with the children in school this week and I am so proud of the amazing work that has been completed, the great learning attitudes towards our new expedition and all your help towards starting immersing our learning environments.
I am looking forward to seeing what brilliant things you achieve next week! Thank you for a great start ⭐️
I would live to give a huge shout out to all the Y5 children who have logged on at home today and completed their expedition work. I have been very impressed with your blast off work and your work linked to cave paintings. Here are a few pictures of our cave paintings!
Well done Y5 let’s have the same again tomorrow!
This morning, I had the great pleasure of going to Thorne community woods to see our final product. All the propaganda art work looks amazing and the QR codes which takes us to the site all work. On there you can see all the children’s amazing work throughout this expedition.
I would like to give a huge shout out to all the children in Y5/6 who have worked so hard throughout this expedition which we started all the way back in August! Despite COVID restrictions not allowing us to go on school visits the children have really embraced our Autumn expedition and I am really proud of their work on the product and the google site.
Well done Y5/6 and have a fantastic Christmas holidays. You all deserve it.

I have been so impressed with how mature and positive you have all been whilst completing your first day of online activities
Even though it isn’t what we expected you have all still really blown me away with your awesome ‘work hard’ attitudes!
I can’t wait to see you all in your Christmas jumpers tomorrow – Remember to send in photographs too 😀
Our learning legend for today is Jaiden for his awesome character based on the Aldi Christmas advert – I think Kevin would love to be friends with your character and take part in an advert based on your story line!
Well done everyone!
We all loved the Christmas craft day yesterday sprinkling glitter and festive cheer. We all enjoyed singing along to Christmas songs and sharing our favourite Christmas memories!

As part of our expedition ‘how can we help the world we live in?’ we have focused on deforestation and the importance of trees. We had an expert visit us in school to teach us how trees adapt to their environment and we had a look around our grounds at some of the different trees. We were shocked how different all of the trees were and the different ways they had adapted to their surroundings!
