Is your child using the latest version of Timetables Rockstars?

I have been notified by TTRS (Maths Circle) that many children are using out-of-date versions of the game which may not have the new functionalities.

It’s important that they use the latest versions of the app and and website to ensure they receive the most secure, feature-rich and enjoyable experience of Times Tables Rock Stars. Some of the versions are so far behind that they’re missing out on key updates.

Solution:

If using the website at home, please ask parents to visit play.ttrockstars.com/reset to load the latest version in their device’s browser. Otherwise please to update the Times Tables Rock Stars app from the app store.

Thanks,

Mr Mumby

🎊 The Green Top KS1 Pride Of Thorne Awards 🎊

KS1 would like to invite our parents and carers to attend a hero-studded awards event to celebrate the achievements of the wonderful people in our community. The children have been busy writing presentation speeches and rehearsing their hand-shakes in preparation for the ceremony and cannot wait to welcome you all!

DATE: Thursday 23rd November

PLACE: Green Top School Hall

TIME: 4 – 5pm

Refreshments will be available and there will also be the chance to buy a digital copy of the amazing photographs that were taken of the children during our superhero dress up day at the beginning of term.

Please fill in this Google Form to request seats at the event. There is no limit to the number of other children you can bring but the adult seats will be restricted to 2 per KS1 class member.

If your child attends an after school club you could send in party clothes for them to change into and meet them at the ceremony. If not, you could take them home to change and return to school in time for the awards to begin at 4pm.

The children are looking forward to welcoming you all!

Y1 Family Learning

What a wonderful afternoon we spent today with our parents and carers at our family learning event. We got crafty to make crackers and gift boxes and used wrapping paper, sparkles and lots of love to wrap presents to spread Christmas cheer in our community. The gifts will be donated to The Thorne and Moorends Food Bank at our celebration of learning which will take place next Thursday (please see other blog post for details of how to book seats).

Today’s event wouldn’t have been as successful as it was without your support and for that, as always, we are so thankful.

Looking forward to seeing you all next week

The Y1 team xx

Lest We Forget…

Our children have spent the week leading up to Armistice day learning about the reason we wear the red poppy and have produced these stunning examples to display in our corridors.

A beautiful and fitting tribute to the fallen.

Remembrance in history club

In history club this evening we learned about the different colour poppies used to celebrate the sacrifices made in wars.

The red poppy for servicemen and women from the First World War up to the present day.

The purple poppies are worn for the animals who have died in wars.

The black poppy rose was introduced in 2010 to represent the contributions of the African, Black, West Indian, Caribbean, Pacific Islands and Indigenous communities to wars.

White poppies have been worn since 1933 as a symbol of peace and remembrance.

We made a wreath of the red and purple poppies to display in KS1 corridor as a mark of respect.

Year 1 Phonics: Miss Schon’s Group

In Miss Schon’s group this week the children are reviewing the /oa/ grapheme. Our Shared Reading book is called ‘Toad in the Rain’.

This week we have also been celebrating our learning so far. The children have been really motivated to learn. This group will be bringing home a ‘Phonics Pack’ this week with resources they can use at home. Please keep this pack in a safe place as I will keep giving the children more resources to add to their pack as their learning progresses.
