We’ve had the best two days getting to know each other and our new crew. We had lots of fun completing some crew activities, learning about the Zones of Regulation and creating characters that linked to each zone, designing and painting kindness zones for our new garden and learning about the British Values and how these links to our Crew and school life. We also enjoyed some reading to adults and creating some artwork ready for our new classroom.
What a fantastic first impression you have all made. I already can’t wait for the first week back!!
Today, we have been testing how chocolate can change from a solid to a liquid by applying heat to it!
We had a lovely morning delivering our delicious brownies to the food bank for food parcels and for the volunteers. The volunteers were so kind showing us how the food bank works and they were even kind enough to give the children juice and chocolate! Thank you so much for having us and we hope you enjoy the brownies!
Parents and carers are warmly welcome to our annual KS2 Sports Day 2024. Join us on the 2nd of July at 9am, we need YOU there to cheer on our future Olympians.
This event will take place on the KS2 field. Please enter via the gates at the top playground and make your way down to the school field where you will find chairs along the race track.
Mrs Fitzpatrick will be on hand, serving snacks and refreshments throughout the morning too!
See you there!
Next week, our Year 3 and 4 children will be heading into the community to deliver some delicious brownies they will have baked with our cook Michael. These are to say thank you to special people in our community! Some of the places that the children will be delivering to are the local food bank, the charity shop and Little Bunnies playgroup.
We would love it if we could take further donations with us to support these places and charities further. We will be looking for donations such as:
The children will be taking the items brought in and need to carry them so please nothing too big or heavy.
As always, we appreciate your support with helping our local community further!
We’ve had great fun with our creative writing today for National Writing Day! First we looked at some different images and thought about what might be happening and what we could write about. The children then picked an image and used it as a stimulus to write anything they wanted! We had lots of lovely stories, diary entries and letters!
Year 3/4 are excited to celebrate their learning from this term for our expedition ‘From bean to bar: What is the cost of a bar of chocolate?’
Please join us on Thursday 4th July at 4.30pm to celebrate. More details will follow soon!
We had a fantastic morning taking part in an African dance and singing workshop ready for the XP Arts festival! It was so much fun and we can’t wait until they come back next week to keep practising with us!
The children in History Club continued their learning on D Day tonight by adding to the 80th Anniversary commemoration display in the KS1 corridor. Children from all year groups have contributed work to the display and I am blown away by both the quality of the work, and the empathy shown in the content of the writing. We discussed the Normandy landings on the morning of the 6th of June 1944, and the children learned about the reasons behind the previous evening’s mass drop of paratroopers behind Hitler’s Atlantic Wall and how these brave men fought to capture and hold roads and bridges to secure a safer passage for those who were to follow in the beach attacks the next day.
There are still a few finishing touches to be added and photographs of the completed display will be blogged as soon as it is completed but here is a sneak preview…
