In our science lessons, we have been looking at different ways of separating and filtering items. The children were challenged with taking a bottle of dirty water containing mud, sand, leaves and stones and making it as clean as possible using the tools and equipment available to them. All of the children did a brilliant job working together as a team – well done!
Year 5/6 are making links through expedition and working with our local community to support the miniature Railway. We will be hosting a range of exciting stalls for you to get involved with and all proceeds will be donated to keep the miniature railway running.
Please come along at 15:00pm on Tuesday 12th October and support us!

As part of our science learning, we focused on the properties of stainless steel today and why it is such a useful material in the rail industry. We learnt about Harry Brearley and how stainless steel was invented just up the road from us in Sheffield!

The Y5/6 Staff Team
In our expedition lesson today we have been looking at solubility and working out which materials dissolve and which ones do not. We tested this out using salt, sugar, rice, flour, coffee and sand before recording our results in a table.
Thank you to Martin (our train expert) and to Plover who invited us to hangout so that we didn’t miss out on speaking to him and asking our questions!
He had lots of interesting stories and talked all about the history of rail and Doncaster’s rail heritage!
