Well done to Millie who, this week, has been completing some acts of kindness at home. She made her best friend Elea a get well soon card and coloured her a Stitch picture to cheer her up. She has also been making some thank you cards to hand out to those people who have been kind to her. Well done Millie for such a lovely gesture!
It was lovely to see how excited the children were yesterday with their new reading diaries and a chance to choose their own books from the Accelerated Reader bookshelf. Today, we spent some time with our books in the classroom and the children blew me away with their fantastic attitudes and enthusiasm once again. Keep it up everyone!
To clarify expectations for reading at home:
At the front of children’s diaries is a QR code to take them to the Accelerated Reader website where they can login and quiz on the books they have read. This will help to support their comprehension development and is an important part of their reading journey. This sticker also details your child’s book level band which is where they will select their school level books from. This level has been set following your child’s Star Reader assessment. Children are still encouraged to read other books that engage and challenge them, and we welcome these being shared in their reading diaries as well.
Alongside reading at home, children will be given the opportunity to read and quiz during set times at school. Once children have finished a book, please encourage them to swap their book/s for a new choice from the book band shelves in the classroom. Children are responsible for changing their books and this can be done at any point in the week.
Thank you for your ongoing support, Mr Taylor
For homework this week, Arnie wrote facts about Churchill and designed a “Dig for Victory” poster. Arnie also watched a film about children in the war for a better understanding of what it was like. Well done Arnie – super home learning!

Well done to Matilda who has been writing instructions on how to make a jam sandwich before going on to make the real thing! Well done Matilda, keep up the good work!
This week we made 3D faces and aimed to apply some of the the techniques we learnt over the last couple of weeks. Loops, folds, curls, fringe, arches and tabs! They all got stuck in straight away and I was extremely impressed with all their efforts this week! Well done guys and thank you for having a go and listening so well!
This year, we are working hard to raise money to develop our reading for pleasure library so firstly, we would like to say a huge thank you for all your sponsors from the colour run which will go along way to helping us!
Secondly, we still need your help! We would love for you to help us design the library based on the space we have to use which is the foyer area near the hall.
Please design your ideal library and share your plans with Miss Knowles in person or at [email protected] This is for everyone across school to get involved in! Please send your plans by 7th October.
We can’t wait to see your fantastic ideas which will help us design the perfect library!
Today, the children have been working collaboratively to create an acrostic poem about evacuation during the Second World War.
