This week we got involved with the Reading is Magic Festival. We listened to the story Julian is a mermaid. A story of friendship, acceptance, celebration and expressing yourself.
We got to watch the real life author of the story read it to us, it was wonderful! Well done Reception Crew
To celebrate World Poetry Day, we spent some time this morning reading a poem. We talked about how it made us feel and the children said it made them feel relaxed and sleepy 😴
After we had read the story we then got busy and recorded what the poem was about and how it made us feel using pictures.
Well done everyone for being amazing! Mrs Wallace 😊
We have been continuing our love for Reading Week in our phonics sessions. We have now started shared reading and we are enjoying trying to read our green words using our blending skills!
Keep up the super work everyone.
If you would like to check out our Shared Reading book or the sounds that we are learning weekly, please have a look at our EYFS Extended Study tab and this information will be shared weekly.
We have had so much fun in our reading week this week, our children have been really excited about discussing reading, reading in provision and especially being able to buy some brand new books. We have been taking time to read together in our COOL time.
We especially liked reading stories linked to our Expedition. It has inspired us to read more in our COOL time.
On Wednesday 1st November we are delighted to announce that The Education Group will be coming in to host our Family Learning session. One adult member of your family is invited to celebrate Diwali with your child and have the opportunity to be taught some traditional Bollywood dancing by a professional dancer.
We kindly ask for you to pay £5 on your child’s ParentPay account which will include a 45 minute dance workshop for one adult and one child.
More details will follow next week where you will be allocated a time slot to attend your dance workshop.
We are all very much looking forward to the day and hope you are able to come and celebrate with your child.
Thank you for your continued support in your child’s learning.
The children in Reception had a fantastic visit from ‘The Yorkshire Owl Experience’. The children loved listening to Steve about the owls and enjoyed having the opportunity to stroke and hold some owls. We learned many new words and facts about owls. Their names, more about their habitat, feeding and the different types of owls. All children have personal photographs in their learning files that will be shared with you as the year progresses.
Well done to these children for being Crew champions this week. These children have been paying close attention to our Crew Norms and have demonstrated amazing HOWLs. They have been great role models to all of their friends in Reception .
Well done to these children for being our HOWL point winners this week. You have been showing us every single day that you are awesome and that you are doing amazing learning and producing beautiful work.
