NSPCC ‘The Kindness Challenge’
Next week, we will be taking part in a week full of activities linking to Kindness. This is part of the NSPCC fundraising and awareness week.
We will be taking part in lots of fun activities during Crew each day and there will be lots of opportunities for children to complete Kindness Challenges at home too.
Next Friday, to raise money for the NSPCC, we will be holding a Non-Uniform Day for donations of £1.

Today is National Poetry Day!
The Reception children explored the poem ‘Take a deep breath’ and we enjoyed many Autumn poems. We had fun listening for rhyming words and words that described Autumn or talked about feelings.
The children read listened to and joined in with the poem before thinking carefully about how they feel when they feel calm and the kinds of things they like to do.
Reception Reading Week
This week we got involved with the Reading is Magic Festival. We listened to the story Julian is a mermaid. A story of friendship, acceptance, celebration and expressing yourself.
We got to watch the real life author of the story read it to us, it was wonderful!
Well done Reception Crew

Reception Reading Week
To celebrate World Poetry Day, we spent some time this morning reading a poem. We talked about how it made us feel and the children said it made them feel relaxed and sleepy 😴
After we had read the story we then got busy and recorded what the poem was about and how it made us feel using pictures.
Well done everyone for being amazing!

Reception Reading Week
We have been continuing our love for Reading Week in our phonics sessions. We have now started shared reading and we are enjoying trying to read our green words using our blending skills!
Keep up the super work everyone.
If you would like to check out our Shared Reading book or the sounds that we are learning weekly, please have a look at our EYFS Extended Study tab and this information will be shared weekly.

Reception Reading Week
We have had so much fun in our reading week this week, our children have been really excited about discussing reading, reading in provision and especially being able to buy some brand new books.
We have been taking time to read together in our COOL time.
We especially liked reading stories linked to our Expedition. It has inspired us to read more in our COOL time.

Reception Owl Experience
The children in Reception had a fantastic visit from ‘The Yorkshire Owl Experience’. The children loved listening to Steve about the owls and enjoyed having the opportunity to stroke and hold some owls. We learned many new words and facts about owls. Their names, more about their habitat, feeding and the different types of owls. All children have personal photographs in their learning files that will be shared with you as the year progresses.
