Why should we help our World survive?

This afternoon in geography we have been debating whether we should demolish the Amazon rainforest or not. I was very impressed with our research skills and retrieving key facts and information to share as to why the rainforest is so important to our planet. In addition to this, everyone stood up and presented their research and debated what should happen to our rainforests. Great work today Crew Ambler and well done!

Working Hard and Getting Smart ☺️

We have had a fantastic day in Nursery. We started off our morning by further exploring the story of the Three Little Pigs. All children completed the challenge of drawing a picture of a house for the pigs independently. There were so many children trying really hard to hold their pen correctly and make meaningful marks on paper. Our beautiful work is now on display in Nursery ✍🏼😃

A huge shout out to our post card winners today… Ethan, Grace and Archie! Thank you for being lovely role models to your friends today.

Kole also brought in a castle he made at home – a perfect example of how to live out our expedition title ‘Early Years Engineers’ ⭐️

Our Legends!

A big shout out and well done to our learning legends Hattie, Evan and Macie. Also a big well done to Theo for being this weeks “out of this world” winner!

Learning legend post card winners

Today we have written the first draft of our non-chronological report on polar bears. Eva and Ellis won the postcards for their amazing effort in this work. Ellis tried very hard to remember his phonics learning for spellings and Eva used lots of green standard conjunctions. I can’t wait to see your final drafts. Great job.

All about polar bears

Some fantastic sharing of knowledge today in class 6 when the children made information posters about polar bears as part of their science case study. This knowledge will be used to great effect in our English work when we write a non-chronological report to consolidate our learning. Take a look at the posters below drawn by Rhys, Deacon and Harrison.

Amazing job guys.

Number Day – Dress up!

NSPCC Number Day is taking place Friday 4th February and we would love the children to come in maths related dress up! We would also really appreciate any donations to support the NSPCC charity.

We can’t wait to see your maths dress up!

Percentages of amounts

Crew Knowles have worked hard persevering with the skill of finding percentages of amounts today! A big shout out to those who came to learning club after school to continue practising!

Phonics sounds and spelling list wb. 24.1.22

This weeks phonics focus sounds will be…
wh as in when, ph as in phone, ew as in stew and oe as in toe

Our weekly spellings are…
here, there, when, which, alpha, graph, stew, crew, toe, goes

Any help you could give your child with recognising the sounds and practising the spellings would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks for your continued support and to all those who practised last week’s spellings. It really does make a massive difference for the children to see that the work they do in school is considered just as important at home.

Literacy Lab!

This week the children in reception have been exploring many ways of retelling our class text ‘The three Little Pigs!’ Here are some of the children creating their very own story maps! What wonderful work!
