Becoming Geographers in Year 4

To kick off our Case Study 1- Geography this week, we’ve been learning about different locations and identifying them on a map. We started focussing on places close to home; Thorne, Doncaster, South Yorkshire and England. We then got even smarter learning which countries make up the UK and the capital cities.

Well done guys, I was really impressed by your prior knowledge and your skills when reading a map!

I’d like to award you all with 30 howl points for working hard collaboratively!

Reading Immersion in Year 4!

After reading the first two chapters outside, we retreated back in to our toasty warm classrooms for a yummy hot chocolate and to write some fantastic predictions about what we believe will happen in our text.

We’d like to make a shout out to all of the children for their excellent listening skills and for sitting so sensibly- you were all super stars! It was a really lovely experience!

Y5 Geography

Yesterday In Crew Ambler, We learnt all about physical geography and the different biomes on Earth. Each group then went away to research a biome of their choice to present to each other at the end of the lesson. I was very proud with how hard everybody worked and their presentation skills. Well done Crew Ambler.

Y6 All Block

Crew Knowles have had some great reading session in All Block this week. They have worked collaboratively building on their retrieval, inference and fluency skills. Well done guys!

Characteristics of animals

This morning class 8 read the characteristics of the main animal groups in a scavenger hunt and learnt all about reptiles, amphibians, mammals, fish and birds.

Afterwards we did a quiz using the animal finger puppets and then in collaborative groups the children sorted animals collaboratively.

To assess their learning this morning they completed an exit ticket where they wrote sentences about specific animals.

What a busy and exciting morning they have had full of lots of expeditionary learning!

Great work crew 👏

Money mayhem

Today we have been comparing amounts using the more than or less than symbols. There was some great collaborative work today too, well done .

It would be great if the children could practice making amounts with coins at home to help with their maths this week.

Don’t forget to post any photos to our year 2 Google classroom!
