This week, we have thoroughly enjoyed finishing our Geography case study and I have been super impressed with everyone’s knowledge and understanding of climate change and how it has effected Svalbard. We used the iPads to investigate the geographical zones of the Earth, the seven continents and even topographical features of the Uk and Svalbard and everyone has been able to apply their knowledge to link what is happening in our beautiful planet to our class text!
Well done Crew – I’m so proud of you all!
SHOUT OUT!!
A big well done to Evie for achieving her learning legend for her awesome geography knowledge in expedition this week. She could confidently apply her knowledge of topographical features to explain why climate change is having an impact in Svalbard!
Also, a big well done to Lewis for achieving 100% on 3 consecutive accelerated reader quizzes and having a go at opening Mrs Jackson’s prize box! Fingers crossed you’ll crack the code next time!

Shared reading

In expedition today we all showed some fantastic decoding and listening skills when we completed a shared read about jellyfish. I listened to lots of children read the text and was really impressed by the improvement in their fluency.
Super lesson today guys, well done!

Problem solving
In maths this afternoon the children worked in pairs or small groups to read maths problems and talk through their methods of how to work it out.
I saw some fantastic conversations and coaching taking place. Keep up this super work!

Animal makaton
Class 8 were so lucky today that Mrs Woolley came in to teach the children some makaton signs for a variety of animals which linked beautifully to our expedition.
They played games, worked in teams and practiced the signs.
Great work crew!

Year 2 xp outdoors
Today was the first session of year 2 having their XP outdoors lesson. I can see lots of smiles in the photos and the children were very eager to share what they got up to so I can’t wait to see what they get up to this term.
Please remember to bring suitable outdoor clothing on a Tuesday. The next year 2 session will be on Tuesday 1st February. Thank you to all parents and carers for supporting us with this great opportunity for the children.

TT Rockstar Club
Check out their concentration!
I’ve been well and truly blown away the last couple of weeks at TT Rockstars by how hard the children are trying.
The focus and dedication they have got to beat their scores, or improve their times is fantastic!
We have certainly got some rock legends in the making here and I have no doubt that they will be whizzing through the multiplication test at the end of Year 4.
Well done everyone, see you next Monday.
P.s you’ve all got 30 HoWL points for working hard and getting smart even after the school day has finished!
