We spent a very chocolatey afternoon in class 6 making delicious Easter treats. The temptation to lick the spoon was almost unbearable, but I managed it…just!
The children will be bringing these home tomorrow along with their other Easter goodies.
As part of diversity week, yesterday we watched a short film called ‘Umbrella’. I am so proud of the wonderful human beings the children in Crew Jackson are. They showed a real understanding of what empathy is and demonstrated this through the discussions they led about the characters feelings at different points in the story.
Wow! I am gutted that I didn’t get to take part in this weeks XP outdoors sessions! The kids talked with such enthusiasm about the soup and s’mores they cooked and enjoyed today. The big smiles and the chocolate round the mouth said it all! Check out the happy faces in the photo gallery below.
Class 5 had a brilliant morning of family fun, collecting up lots of resources to make bug hotels with! We used techniques like shredding and glueing that we have been looking at in art to get creative with compostable material safe for our wonderful wildlife.
Thank you for joining us for our Celebration of Learning. A huge shout out to our experts for joining us. It was a wonderful afternoon to celebrate the children’s learning over the last two terms.
Have a wonderful Easter break and we will see you in the summer term.
A big well done to our four Reading Raffle winners today! Enjoy your Easter goodies!

Crew Knowles practised some of their place value skills today online and did a fab job! They worked collaboratively to work out the answers and consolidated their knowledge of place value. Well done – you have all worked so hard!
Thank you to the ‘Friends of Green Top’ for sharing this photograph! Tickets are still on sale and will also be available to purchase at the fayre. Good luck everyone – the raffle will be drawn at the Easter Fayre on Friday afternoon!
As part of diversity week class 6 watched a video about disability called The Present. A boy is gifted a puppy but is very unkind to it when he realises it has lost one of its legs. The children’s shocked faces when they saw how cruelly the boy treated the puppy were clear to see, showing just how they felt about his behaviour. He eventually warms to the puppy and takes it to play outside. It is at this point it becomes clear that the boy has also lost part of his leg. The children discussed how this would have made him feel and was perhaps the reason he was so unkind to the puppy.
What amazing empathy the children showed towards the situation and what mature conversations they had about how being disabled did not mean you were any less of a person than a boy or girl who is able bodied.
