Today, our Year 5 Crews headed down to the XP Outdoors workshop for an exciting hands-on session in tool work. Working together, they learned how to safely split logs using axes and practiced their whittling techniques with knives. It was a brilliant opportunity to build confidence, and show respect for the tools — all while having fun outdoors!

XP Outdoors- Year 5 Stretcher Making
This morning, our Year 5 crews took on a hands-on challenge that put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test. Tasked with rescuing an “injured” team member, each crew was given only one tool: rope.

With creativity and cooperation, the students worked together to design and build makeshift stretchers strong enough to carry their injured teammate to safety. It was fantastic to see the collaboration, communication, and critical thinking on display as they turned simple rope into a life-saving device.
Well done to all the Year 5 crews for showing such determination and teamwork!
XP Outdoors – Year 5 Tent Race!
This morning, Year 5 took part in the exciting XP Outdoor challenge Green Top’s Tent Race! The race was all about Crew building, speed, commutation and a lot of fun.
Each team raced to put up a Tipi tent as quickly as possible, squeezed inside to show it could hold everyone, then took it down and dashed to the next setup point. There, they worked together again to pitch a second tent, made sure the whole team passed through it—and then it was a full-speed home run to the finish line!
Reception- XP Outdoors Natural Artwork
During our afternoon XP Outdoor sessions, Reception pupils had a wonderful time exploring their creativity in nature! Using natural resources they found around the school grounds — such as leaves, sticks, stones, and petals — the children created their very own pieces of artwork.
It was fantastic to see how imaginative everyone was, using different textures, shapes, and colours to design their masterpieces. Well done to all of Reception for your brilliant efforts and beautiful creations!

Year 3 XP Outdoors- Getting to grips with knifes
This week, Year 3 took on a new challenge in XP Outdoors learning how to use knives safely. With careful guidance, they practiced basic carving techniques while following important safety rules.

Year 1 Fire Lighting – XP Outdoors
This afternoon, Year 1 students had an exciting XP Outdoor session as they learned the skill of fire lighting using flint and steel!
We discovered how sparks are made by striking flint against steel. With patience, focus, and plenty of determination, they practiced creating tiny sparks—watching in amazement as they ignited cotton wool to start a very small fire.
Not only was it fun but also a fantastic way to learn about fire safety, resilience, and the behind the scenes of fire making. The children worked together, encouraging each other and celebrating every successful spark. Well Done Year 1!!!

XP Outdoors- Pancake Day with Year 4
This morning, Year 4 students had a fantastic time celebrating Pancake Day in XP Outdoors! Instead of simply enjoying ready-made pancakes, the children took full control—mixing their own batter and cooking pancakes over an open fire.
With some support, the students carefully measured flour, eggs, and milk before whisking it all together to create the mix. Then came the exciting part—cooking the pancakes over the fire!

Year 2- Fruit Kebabs
Wow wow wow! What a fantastic start to Year 2s XP Outdoors. This afternoon we made fruit kebabs, learning all about different types of fruit and why they are important. We had apples, bananas, grapes, strawberries, melon and watermelon.
Hands washed and down to business, selecting their fruits and carefully chopping them into small pieces. With all the fruit prepped time for sliding them onto skewers, experimenting with different combinations, discussing which fruits paired best together. Last but very important enjoying eating our fabulous creations.
