Nursery XP outdoors – PIZZA MAKING

A very lovely afternoon spent with Mr Kershaw for our XP Outdoors session. The children learnt about fire safety, how to keep a fire burning and how to make a pizza using tortilla wraps, tomato and herb sauce and cheese. The children then cooked them with care on the fire and enjoyed eating them once they were all oozy and warm. What a delicious treat for a Monday afternoon!

A huge shout out to all of the Nursery children for their excellent listening skills and awareness of the danger of fire which meant we could have an exciting experience safely.

XP Outdoors – Year 5 workshop

Today, our Year 5 Crews headed down to the XP Outdoors workshop for an exciting hands-on session in tool work. Working together, they learned how to safely split logs using axes and practiced their whittling techniques with knives. It was a brilliant opportunity to build confidence, and show respect for the tools — all while having fun outdoors!

XP Outdoors- Year 5 Stretcher Making

This morning, our Year 5 crews took on a hands-on challenge that put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test. Tasked with rescuing an “injured” team member, each crew was given only one tool: rope.

With creativity and cooperation, the students worked together to design and build makeshift stretchers strong enough to carry their injured teammate to safety. It was fantastic to see the collaboration, communication, and critical thinking on display as they turned simple rope into a life-saving device.

Well done to all the Year 5 crews for showing such determination and teamwork!

Reception XP Outdoors

We are so lucky that on a Tuesday Mr Kershaw comes to do an XP outdoors session. This week we had to work together as a Crew to try and get the water to flow down the pipes without spilling any.
It was so tricky but we managed to keep our cool and have loads of fun trying to solve the problem.

A few soggy toes at the end but it was more than worth it!
Well done everyone and a huge thank you to Mr Kershaw.

XP Outdoors in Nursery

This week the children have loved Mr Kershaw’s visit to Nursery. The children had to work as a team and maintain excellent communication skills to hold the pipes in the required position for the water to flow through to the end. At times the pipe fell and water spilled. The children had to think critically and make changes for the water to flow without spilling. It was a big challenge! I was so proud of all of the children and their awesome attitude towards this challenge. No frustration – just team work and a few soggy toes!

XP Outdoors – Year 5 Tent Race!

This morning, Year 5 took part in the exciting XP Outdoor challenge Green Top’s Tent Race! The race was all about Crew building, speed, commutation and a lot of fun.

Each team raced to put up a Tipi tent as quickly as possible, squeezed inside to show it could hold everyone, then took it down and dashed to the next setup point. There, they worked together again to pitch a second tent, made sure the whole team passed through it—and then it was a full-speed home run to the finish line!

Reception- XP Outdoors Natural Artwork

During our afternoon XP Outdoor sessions, Reception pupils had a wonderful time exploring their creativity in nature! Using natural resources they found around the school grounds — such as leaves, sticks, stones, and petals — the children created their very own pieces of artwork.

It was fantastic to see how imaginative everyone was, using different textures, shapes, and colours to design their masterpieces. Well done to all of Reception for your brilliant efforts and beautiful creations!

XP Outdoors in Nursery

On Monday, Mr Kershaw came for some XP Outdoors fun with the children. He made the most of the fine weather and played ‘What time is it Mr Wolf?’, ‘Duck, Duck, Goose’, ‘hide and seek’, T-Rex hunt and reenacted the story of ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. The Nursery children had so much fun and can’t wait for some more time with Mr Kershaw next Monday!
