Year 2- Fruit Kebabs

Wow wow wow! What a fantastic start to Year 2s XP Outdoors. This afternoon we made fruit kebabs, learning all about different types of fruit and why they are important. We had apples, bananas, grapes, strawberries, melon and watermelon.

Hands washed and down to business, selecting their fruits and carefully chopping them into small pieces. With all the fruit prepped time for sliding them onto skewers, experimenting with different combinations, discussing which fruits paired best together. Last but very important enjoying eating our fabulous creations.

Year 3 XP Outdoors- Flint & Steel

Year 3 Crews began their XP Outdoors again for the spring term.

The challenge: Who still remembers how to use flint and steel was done by Year 4 yesterday so obviously Year 3 had to beat them.

They challenged themselves even more without having any instructions, there were some questionable strikes to start, but soon everyone got the hang of it with amazing efforts from all.

What another great way to start the term-bring it on, Year 3!

Year 4 XP Outdoors- Flint & Steels

Today, the Year 4 Crews braced the cold and started XP Outdoors again for the spring term.

A fun challenge: Who still remembers how to use flint and steel?

After a quick demo, it was time to put those skills to the test. At first, there were some hesitant strikes, but soon sparks were flying! Everyone got the hang of it, and by the end, every single crew member nailed it. What a great way to start the term-bring it on, Year 4!

Class 7s first two days!

Well, Class 7 have had two busy days back as they start their adventure into Year 2. We have been designing key rings and then making them!

Today, we have had fun in Mr Kershaw’s camp. We started reading in the tents, then roasted marshmallows by the fire and finished off by making some dream catchers!

We then started making some cards for our visit out tomorrow!

Class 10s first day in Year 3! 😆

What a fantastic first day back Class 10 have had. I am absolutely blown away by their attitude, hard work and kindness. Have you really had 5 weeks off?

We started today by having XP Outdoors with Mr Kershaw and Class 9. We had to build dens after there was a devastating storm that had sunk our ship. As a Crew, we had to make sure we worked together to collect materials and build dens that we could survive it!

After this, Class 10 were introduced to their first week back, mini-guiding question. We are looking into ‘what does Crew mean to me?’ Using think, pair, share, Class 10 were able to have some interesting discussions about how Crew helps them and others. There were so many fantastic ideas that were discussed! We found out that we would be spreading the message of kindness by painting kind messages onto rocks.

After lunch, we then continued our day by looking for rocks on the school field that could be used for our positivity rocks. We found loads and hope that we can inspire the wider community to complete their own, once ours are completed!
