XP Outdoors – Year 6 How we do Crew in XP Outdoors

Today in Year 6, we explored how we do Crew in XP Outdoors and thought carefully about what it means to work together as a Crew. We then designed and decorated our own wooden cookies, using colours, symbols and patterns to represent Crew and what it means to each of us. It was a fun and creative way to show how important collaboration, respect and kindness are in our learning community.

Class 5: First Week Back!

Wow what a week we have had in Class 5. It has been so lovely getting to know the children even better they are awesome! I have already seen how brilliant the children are at displaying courage and overcoming any worries or concerns they have. They are very resilient and we have had so much fun completing our first week back activities. Two of our highlights were visiting the XP Outdoors camp where we toasted marshmallows to make smores and sang funny camp songs with Mr Kershaw. It was so lovely seeing the children smiling and laughing along. We also loved our Water Extravaganza especially the water guns, wet sponge obstacle course and Mrs Raynors soggy disco!

For our learning this week we have been answering the guiding question ‘How does what I do impact others?’. We have learned about reducing, reusing and recycling materials to help conquer climate change. We have been drawing pictures to decorate recycling boxes for all the classes in school. We had a lovely lady called Lynne come in to visit us to teach us all about what happens with our waste in Doncaster. The children have been really engaged and compassionate.

I am very excited for our Hook Week next week where we will learn what our Autumn Term Expedition will be and do lots of crafts to decorate our classroom!

Here are some photos of our week! (Water Extravaganza will be shared in a whole school post!)

Class 8’s wonderful first week back!!!

This morning, year 2 went into Thorne and sang some of our beautiful crew songs. They were amazing and we got some awesome feedback from the public. We then walked down finkle street handing out keyrings that we had made, just to make people smile!

This afternoons water fight was also amazing! We had so much fun and got very wet!!! I hope the children have enjoyed today as much as I have…have a wonderful weekend!!! X x x

Class 7 – Day 3 FWB!

What a lovely morning we had completing an orienteering course where we got to run around the KS2 playground in search of different points!

We then were lucky to be able to visit Camp Green Top that Mr Kershaw put on for us. We read in tents, made musical instruments and toasted marshmallows with Mr Kershaw!

Here we are reading and making instruments!

We ended the day by litter picking within the community!

Day 3 in class 8…

Today we have been so busy! It started with orienteering this morning. The children used Electronic tags to go around the playground finding the markers, using maps of the school. It timed them to see how quick they were and the children worked with their partners brilliantly. I was tired just watching them run around the field!

After that we had our xp outdoors experience session. We moved around the 3 activities in our crews. These were reading in the teepee tents, toasting and eating marshmallows and then making musical instruments using natural wood from the field. It was so much fun!

Finally we took the cards that we made to a local care home. The residents were so pleased to see us and loved chatting to the children.

Can’t wait for Friday!!! See you in the morning!
