Class 11 have become… report experts!

Miss Laing and Mrs Hardman have been blown away this week with Class 11’s ability to unpick the features of different reports and extensively compare them! This week in Literacy, the children in Year 4 have been thinking carefully about the features of a Non-chronological Report and how these impact on the reader. This has involved asking themselves questions such as: What makes it more appealing? How does it stand out compared to another one? What do you need to remember to include in your own?

We cannot wait for Literacy next week as it will be their turn to create their own! After today, I’m confident that they will all be Light Bulb Leo’s!

Preparing for the Product

We have been preparing for our product today by completing the art work needed for the calendar. Class 13 enjoyed getting messy by creating a rainforest picture and then rolling it in ink before printing it. The end product was really effective but you will have to wait for the calendar to see it!

Tropical World

Class recently 13 enjoyed a trip to Roundhay Park and Tropical World in Leeds. They attended a workshop in the woods where they measured trees, identified leaves and hunted for minbeasts (they were braver than me)!

At tropical world, they enjoyed looking at the animals but what surprised them the most was how hot it was! They were really able to experience what it would be like to visit a rainforest and were really immersed in their surroundings.

Super homework!

How beautiful is Alexsis’ homework! The detail is stunning! Well done Alexsis, I am so impressed! £100 class cash!

The Queen

This afternoon class 5 received a letter from the The Queen with information about her! We had to read the information about the Queen and decided which facts were true and not true. All the children worked really hard today in their groups and wrote some great facts about the Queen. Well done everyone. We are really proud of you.

Class 5 have made birthday cards today for Prince Charles! We have been learning about the royal family and we found out that today is Prince Charles’ 70th birthday.

Thank you

Y6 visit to Tropical World

Yesterday Y6 visited Tropical World, the visit was exciting and purposeful as it linked to our theme ‘How can we help the world we live in’ the children saw some amazing animals only to be found in the Amazon Rainforest.

Literacy hook

The children have loved taking on the role of a farmer and have all had a brilliant morning doing lots of different jobs, like milking cows, collecting eggs, making bird feeders and thinking about and drawing what equipment they would need as a farmer. Here are some lovely pictures of the morning.

Product Progress!

Class 11 have started the planning process for their product in this afternoons theme lesson. The children were getting creative collaboratively, sharing their ideas and beginning to put pen to paper ready to start their first draft.

I’m so incredibly excited to see how this product develops and share it with everybody! Watch this space!!
