All children are in their rooms and settled for the night. It’s safe to say it’s been a great but wet day in Central London! Please continue to check the blog and we will add as many photos as we can throughout the day.

Class 5 Beautiful Work
Last week we has a special celebration for children who have demonstrated brilliant craftsmanship and quality in their Expedition books. Some children have beautiful work throughout and some children have made lots of improvement over the term so far. Well done superstars! We will be giving out more awards for beautiful work in a few weeks time.

Year 1: Methodist Church Visit
This morning the children in Year 1 enjoyed a lovely wet walk to the Methodist Church. Mrs Raper gave us a lovely welcome and spoke to the children about the church and the community it serves. The children loved seeing all of the religious symbols and artefacts especially the organ and the family bible that had been passed down by many generations. The children asked some great questions too! What a lovely morning we had despite the rainy weather.

Year 1 Mayor Visit
Yesterday the children in Year 1 were lucky to receive a visit from the Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones. Ros spoke to the children about the jobs she does and the exciting things that are happening in Doncaster. We spoke about transport, travel, leisure, schools and housing amongst other things. We also discussed how we care for the environment and how we tackle issues such as food poverty and homelessness. The children asked some fantastic questions and I feel we have some potential future mayors in Year 1.

Year 6 – Crucial Crew
Y6 visited the Lifewise Centre today to participate in the Crucial Crew programme. The Lifewise Centre provides the children with essential knowledge and skills to be able to keep safe in the local community.
Some of the different scenarios included road safety, transport safety, fire safety and a mock trial in a Magistrates’ Court! All of the scenarios are taught by volunteering experts from South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the South Yorkshire Safer Roads Partnership.
The children participated in all of the scenarios showing real maturity and thoughtfulness. Check out the slide show below.
