Today the children will be coming home with a pink heart written for someone special. We talked about how we can show kindness and share the love to make ourselves and someone else feel happy. The children came up with some lovely kind comments.
Today we shared the story ‘The huge bag of worries’ written by Virginia Ironside. We talked about what feeling worried means and how we can help ourselves and each other if we feel worried. We discussed how talking and sharing our worries with a grown up we trust can help the worries feel a little lighter.
This week we got involved with the Reading is Magic Festival. We listened to the story Julian is a mermaid. A story of friendship, acceptance, celebration and expressing yourself.
We got to watch the real life author of the story read it to us, it was wonderful!

To celebrate World Poetry Day, we spent some time this morning reading a poem. We talked about how it made us feel and the children said it made them feel relaxed and sleepy 😴
After we had read the story we then got busy and recorded what the poem was about and how it made us feel using pictures.

We have been continuing our love for Reading Week in our phonics sessions. We have now started shared reading and we are enjoying trying to read our green words using our blending skills!

We have had so much fun in our reading week this week, our children have been really excited about discussing reading, reading in provision and especially being able to buy some brand new books.
We have been taking time to read together in our COOL time.
We especially liked reading stories linked to our Expedition. It has inspired us to read more in our COOL time.

Nursery have loved exploring natural objects to count linked to our maths lessons. We have also been investigating fruit and vegetables linked to our Harvest Festival expedition learning this week. Elodie was a star and clearly explained “harvest is getting the food in from the farmer’s field”. The children then used the provision tray to count potatoes and peppers. Awesome learning and play Nursery Crew!
The children loved using acorns to create new textures and mix autumn themed colours.
Mr Mumby came to read the story of ‘Grumpycorn’ as our home time story to celebrate reading week. The children loved his visit. Thanks Mr Mumby!
