Year 4 Collaborative Artwork

We are so proud of how well Year 4 have settled back into school following the holidays. The children have shown great enthusiasm, positivity, and a real eagerness to learn.

Today, classes took part in a very special project. Working together in small groups, they created a collaborative piece of artwork inspired by our school’s Character Traits.

The end result is something they should be incredibly proud of. Their artwork is not only colourful and creative, but also a wonderful reminder of the values that guide us each day in school.

It is safe to say that Year 4 are proud of their work — and rightly so! We are excited to see how these positive attitudes and strong teamwork skills will shine through in all of their learning this term.

Great work Year 4!

Foodbank donations

Year 5 are learning about ‘acts of service’ this week and would love to be able to take lots of donations to our local food bank who help so many families. The children have made posters and a video and visited each class to kindly ask for donations! If you can, please dig through your cupboards and bring any donations by Thursday 28th August.

As always, we appreciate your support as do our Year 5 children!

Crew Ambler – First Day Back

I have been blown away by the calmness at settling in, the positive attitudes and the hard work already displayed. We have done so much today including: creating our classroom norms, completing a fun collaborative crew task, work around pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone, started some art work ‘all about themselves’ and supported other year groups across school. I have really enjoyed listening to other staff comment how polite and caring Crew Ambler have been today. Well done everyone!

Green Top’s Community Products

As many of you know, we take great pride in the products we share within our local and sometimes wider community.  Over the years we have had many products around Thorne.

This is just a selection of the beautiful work our children have produced and proudly displayed within our community.

We need your help!

We would like to produce a display in school celebrating the work we have done.

We would like you to share photographs of your children or you as a family with the products you may have spotted in our local or wider community.  We would love to share your photographs as part of the celebration board.  Please share before the end of September.

Reading for pleasure…………..it’s library time!

Many of you will know that during 24/25 we dedicated our fundraising to supporting our plans of a reading for pleasure library.

Well……… during the last three weeks Miss Knowles and Mrs Overson have been busy making these plans come together and our dream of having this library become a reality.

Here’s a few teaser photographs we have taken:

Can you guess what the theme is?

We will be hosting a special event as an official opening of our library during our reading week at the end of the autumn 1 term so watch out for this!

Reading is a big part of our culture and at Green Top we believe that a love of reading unlocks many opportunities!  With this in mind, who wants to take part in a summer reading challenge?  Take a look and take up this challenge just for fun! Miss Knowles and Mrs Overson are giving themselves until the end of September to achieve this…will you join them?

We can’t wait for you to see our new library!
