Y2 TTRockstars!

WOW what a week it has been for TTRockstars in year 2! In class 8, Macky was our class winner, racking up nearly 7,000 coins! However Charlie W smashed it right out of the park for class 9 with a WHOPPING 12,457 coins!!!

There has been so much fun and engagement with the whole thing and it is wonderful to see so many children loving practising their times tables. If you haven’t been on yet, give it a go! You might even beat Charlie and Macky….. I wonder who will win the competition next week…

Maths Week Challenge 5

Today is NSPCC Number Day and TTRockstars are holding an NSPCC Rocks event! Support our school by logging in to your TTRockstars and taking part! The competition is open until 7.30pm.

If you don’t have a TTRockstars account you could play other online games on websites such as Hit the Button or Maths Frame!

Have fun!

Y1 tables slam final evening update

Miss Schon and I are overwhelmed by the amazing effort of class 6 and class 7 in our times table challenge this week. On the final evening before the competition ends at 8am tomorrow morning Crew Schon are still in the lead. Perhaps you could fit in a few more rounds before school in the morning. Lets see who will be champion.

We can’t wait to see your maths related outfits for National Number Day tomorrow too.

Well done everyone .

Class 13 – Equivalent Fractions 🔢

In maths today, the children have been looking at equivalent fractions. We stared by shading different shapes to see visually how two different fractions, with different numerators and denominators, could actually be equal to one another.

We then moved onto the iPads where we accessed a maths site called ’Mathigon.’ Here, the children were able to move different sized fractions around and investigate which fractions were equivalent. The children really enjoyed using this interactive tool and were able to find some interesting equivalent fractions! The link is below for the children to use at home.

Year 4 – TTRockstars Update

It’s the final update before the competition closes tomorrow! There’s still a lot of movement at the top with places chopping and changing and new people pushing to finish high up on the leaderboard. Who is going to finish in the top five by the end of the school day tomorrow?

Geography club

After learning about the layers of the earth last week, we took a more detailed look at our Earth’s crust today. Learning that it is made up of the continental crust and the oceanic crust and what makes up these layers (mostly different types of rock). Here is the way they have captured their learning this week. Next week we are looking at what surrounds the Earth, our atmosphere (and believe it or not, that’s also in layers!).

Class 10, more marvelous maths!

Some more fab fraction learning today. This lesson was very practical and the children really grappled with the process of finding fractions of an amount. Towards the end it was clear they were really starting to get the hang of it. I can’t wait to test their recall tomorrow and move their learning forward. Well done again everyone.

Challenge 3 – making 100!

I have seen lots of creative ways of counting out 100 today! Here are just some of the things I have see! I have been really impressed with those that thought to count in groups of 10 to help keep them on track with their counting. Well done for taking part!
