Class 6 Hook Week day 1

We were all very excited today to settle into our new year 1 routine and took part in phonics, expedition and maths lessons. During expedition we learned the title of our new expedition – Not all heroes wear capes, and discussed our guiding question – How will I be a hero in my community? We completed our Blast Off quiz to see what we already know and planned placards, which we will make this week, with slogans showing how we can improve our local area.

We also began to use our wonderful White Rose Maths booklets and worked in groups to sort objects in different ways.

Congratulations to Elizabeth and Isaac who won our postcards today.

See you tomorrow Superstars!

Class 10 – A Great First Week Back – Who’s ready for another one??!

It was a brilliant first week back in Class 10 last week and it was an absolute pleasure getting to know everyone better! On top of all the fun and exciting special activities we took part in outside of the classroom, the children were also super busy inside the classroom … revisiting what crew means to us, sharing ideas and creating the norms that will help us to work hard, be kind and get smart all year long! We used stories to help us think about what being a good crew member means to us, Bogtrotter for example … where we designed our own bogtrotters and thought about what new adventures they might go on in Year 3 … just like us! AND … we even managed to squeeze in a little visit to our brand new school library which is simply beautiful and we can’t wait to use again. I wonder what our new week will bring …?!

FWB 25…what a week!

Well…what a week we’ve had at GT! We can’t wait to pull everything together and create our beautiful videos to share with you all!  In the meantime, please check out the blog…it’s amazing!

I’d like to publicly shout out our amazing staff crew for everything they’ve done this week to make the start of 25/26 a special one! And to our wonderful children who have made us so proud every day!

Next week the children will be immersed into their autumn expeditions and some of you will be invited into school for family learning!

Everyone left on a high today following the ‘Water Extravaganza’, it was such a special end to the week!

Have a fabulous weekend and we hope to see you at some of the above events next week!

Class 6’s soggy end to a truly wonderful week!

Our first week in Y1 came to a damp but joyous close today as we took part in Green Top’s Water Extravaganza. The squeals of delight and gleeful laughter from both children and staff was awesome to witness. We also put the finishing touches to the recycling boxes that we made as part of our ‘How does what I do impact others?’ guiding question (watch this space for photographs of our product). We have learned so much this week and can’t wait to put our new-found knowledge into action throughout the year.

Also, a huge congratulations to Axl on being voted Crew Rodgers’ councillor and to Oliver and Mila-Rose for being awarded our final postcards of the week.

I’m SO looking forward to spending the next year with you all!

Class 9’s FWB!

What an amazing first week back we have had in Class 9! We began the week by exploring camp GreenTop with Mr Kershaw where we made smores on the fire and used amazing communication and listening skills in our team building challenges. Class 9 also blew Mr Overson away with their orienteering skills.

Our week has been full of excitement, laughter and lots of fun. We focused a lot of our learning around our different character traits and considered how we can improve on these throughout our journey in year 3. We also practised democracy and voted for our Crew Council, digital leader, reading ambassador and active sports ambassador. The children have shown great courage. I could not be prouder.

We finished our amazing week with the ‘water extravaganza’. I hope the children enjoyed this as much as I did! I can’t wait to see what the rest of our year is going to be like Class 9! Have a lovely weekend! – Miss Cooper x
