Y4: Bean planting!

Last week, we ‘planted’ some beans to investigate which conditions are best for plant growth. We are excited to see if any have sprouted over the weekend! Over the next couple of weeks, we are building on our KS1 knowledge of plants and are looking forward to learning lots of new things!

Be a Times Table Superstar in year 1 and 2!

We are very excited to announce that we are launching Times Table Rockstars for our classes! Your child will be coming home this evening with login details for an exciting game to help them with their times tables. Your child’s class teacher will have set tables to practise in the garage section of the game. The more they play in this section the faster they will progress through the tables they need to learn. We will be checking the ‘heat map’ each week to see your child’s progress and move them to the next table once they have learned the one they have been set. You can set your own tables in the jamming section but try to stick to ones the children are currently learning…2s, 5s and 10s for year 1 and 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s for year 2. I have attached a video here and a letter here which will give you more information about the game and it’s different levels.

Any questions please see your child’s class teacher.

ROCK ON ROCKSTARS!!!!!!!!!

class 9 XP Outdoors

Class 9 had lots of fun today doing XP Outdoors today with Mr Kershaw. He created a fantastic lesson where the children got to experiment with musical sounds using items from our outdoor area. I was really impressed with the beats they were making and the different sounds they were creating together.

Great work class 9!

shared reading in year 2

In our year 2 guided reading group, we have been using our inference and retrieval skills to answer questions about a text we have been reading this week. There has been some super skimming and scanning work happening as well as predictions about what will happen in the text.

Well done guys! Your reading is improving all of the time!

Geography Club!

We are loving Geography club. This is our 3rd week. So far the children have told me in some discussion activities what they think Geography is about, then the children did some research and had to make a poster answering the question ‘What is Geography?’.

Today, we looked at the Earth and discussed what we think it’s like on the inside, some thought it was all liquid, some thought it might be spongy. We found out that it is actually made in layers and these layers are all made of different things! Here they are making a collage model of their learning this week. And they did a fabulous job! We can’t wait for next week!
