This half term, the challenge is on. Who will come out on top? Make sure you log in to add to your teams total.
Thank you to everyone who attended our family learning event this week. It was lovely to see so many faces in the classroom getting involved with the children’s learning. We were able to dissect a lily, sketch a diagram of a flower and finish off with a very competitive Kahoot quiz (well done Jersey and Aoife!)
I hope that everyone who attended had a great time working with the children and hopefully learnt at least one new thing that you didn’t know before!
We’ve had a fantastic time this morning in our family learning. We have been dissecting a lily to identify the parts of a flower and draw a diagram with labels to show this. We finished off with a kahoot quiz and we all got very competitive, well done to the winners- Plant Pioneers!
Thank you to all the parents that came along and attended, we really appreciate all of your support.
Mr Gerrard, Miss Hilton, Miss O’Neill and Miss Bull
This afternoon, we’ve been lucky enough to have a visit from Baby Chad and Miss Smith. We’ve all enjoyed finding out about his development and asked lots of questions! I think Baby Chad has made some special friends this afternoon too and enjoyed playing and interacting with the children.
A shout out to Clio, Theo and Jacob for playing ‘Peek-a-boo’ with Baby Chad and making him smile! We’re already counting down to seeing him again soon!
Green Top will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March and this will be a dress up event.
We can’t wait to see which book character you decide to be but please don’t feel that you have to buy a costume – we love seeing the homemade ones!
We’ve had a busy few weeks in science club and have some great pictures to share. Last week, we investigated with skittles. We predicted whether cold, warm or hot water would make the colours run the quickest. After, we found out that the hot water made the colours run quicker. This was because the particles in the hot water move quicker than in cold, making the colour rub off quicker.
Today, Kianna, Eleanor and Annabelle presented their choice of investigation – DIY Lava Lamps. We talked about how liquids can have different densities and this means that oil and water will stay separate. We added some bicarbonate of soda and watch the bubbles of gas move up.
Your challenge – Can you make your own lava lamps over half term? You could investigate how adding vinegar or lemon juice changes the reaction. You might want to try turning off the lights and adding a torch to get an even better effect. Make sure you take some pictures of your investigations!
If your child’s last morning in Nursery is tomorrow, they are welcome to come to Nursery in party clothes should they choose. We will be holding a disco in class for them before going home at 11.30 am.
For all other children who are usually in school on Thursday, the Nursery and Reception disco will be held in school hours 2-2.45 pm. Parents do not need to attend and can collect from the Nursery doors as usual. The tickets are £1 and will include a hot dog snack. Children may come to Nursery in their party clothes.
If you have any further questions, please speak to Mrs Hay or Mrs Burton on the door.
Thank you to all of the Digital Leaders who helped host our drop-in session this evening. We had a range of activities including a Kahoot quiz, online e-safety games, activity booklets, discussion cards and so much more. Take a look at some of the different activities below!
Today was e-safety day, where we discussed the importance of being safe if we are using the internet. This included gaming and for those with a phone.
Class 11 came up with lots of sensible answers for how to stay safe, such as speak to an adult, block those who are unkind or quit a game. So we thought we would share that amazing advice through the creation of posters.
